self-titled CD is the culmination and fruition of
three years of steady work by four dear friends in
Baltimore. The album is a time capsule of songs
about songs and music for the sake of music. It is
positive and vital in this time of confusion and
irony. In this music are mirrors birthed as metal
flowers from disintegration and absolution - a
beautiful alarm beckoning a shredded neon siren.
The songs’ contents range from the end of
capitalism to the inundation of our senses through
collective brain harvesting, the beauty inherent
in beauty, the friend of friendship, staring at
the sky, listening to the woods, feeling the
landfills topple and swell, vibrating in the
market place and your perception. It is a
celebration of life that serves as an impetus to
stand in place and aim music towards itself. The
four human beings that comprise Wilderness have
been making art and music, living and traveling
together, for over 10 years. A stunning debut that
centers itself in perceptional-less reality.
Wilderness is a rough-and-tumble quartet from
Baltimore that harkens images of ‘Metal Box’-era
Johnny Lydon fronting Explosions in the Sky.
