Not sure really how to describe Throw Rags, but one things for sure is that these Salton Sea pirates rocks! Mixing all the best elements of punk, rock, folk, country and psychobilly this guys create a whole unique sound of their own. Like the Supersuckers they have influence from Us southern rock and boogie twang and mix the tempo of the songs for a different variety and mixture of songs. But you can always feel the dirty, raw and angry atmosphere of the album. Stand out tracks is « Swingset Superman», «she don't want to» «tonite the bottle let me down» with vocals from Lemmy of Motorhead. Also back vocals from Jello Biafra (Dead kennedys)and keith Morris (Circle jerks and Black Flag fames) on the last song « children of the secret State». A very interesting effort from a very promisning band.

3.5 when compared to their debut release. Still this 3.5 album is much better than what you normally listen to. I kind of consider this group to be swamp punk (i'm making it up so piss off). Sort of southern influenced like the Supersuckers but they are faster. You can't really compare their sound to anyone else though which is one thing I love about this band.

It's difficult to express how great this album is - words cannot do it justice. This is the kind of full-fledged party rock'n'roll that will make you jump around with a huge, stupid, gimme-another-beer grin on your face. Compared to their last masterpiece, Desert Shores, 13 Ft. seems to have a somewhat harder sound. It's rather more punk, with greater emphasis on guitar hooks and heavy riffing than the Rags' previous effort. Still amazingly catchy, though, and quite importantly displaying a great sense of humour - party punk rock'n'roll of the highest order. Quite possibly the best album of 2005. Buy it. Rock'n'roll. Rock'n'roll. Your party just got better.
