Dirtnap 55

Released on March 22, 2005

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

It’s another mind blowing record from that unlikely hotbed of punk rock, Denton TX! The High Tension Wires quilify as a genuine TX punk rock supergroup with Mike Wiebe (Riverboat Gamblers, Chop Sakis) on vocals, Mark Ryan (Marked Men, Riverboat Gamblers, Reds) on guitar, Chris Pulliam (Reds) on bass and Jeff Burke (Marked Men, Reds, Chop Sakis) on drums. Yes, it’s an incestous scen they’ve got going on in Texas. Blistering punk and ragged lo-fi pop bashed out at maximum velocity from start to finish. (10 songs in 19 minutes, if that tells you anything) Falls somewhere between the members main bands and the great 90’s garage/punk and pop sounds of bands like Scared Of Chaka, Motards and New Bomb Turks. The High Tension Wires don’t let a little thing like the fact that half the band is currently living in Japan (not to mention the Riverboat Gamblers insane touring schedule) stop them from cranking out what’s sure to be one of the best Dirtnap titles ever!

I don't understand what the fuck the first reviewer is talkin about but totally agree with the second one! This is like finding a lost records of the MARKED MEN or a album filled up with B-Sides! This could have been recorded between «on the outside» and «fix my brain»...Here you get Mike Wiebe on lead vocals (RIVERBOAT GAMBLERS), REDS ex-member and MARKED MEN member.....This fucking rules. Catchy songs, poppy hooks and power pop punk drive! Awesome. I can't stop spinning it....They also covered «I'll Get You» from Belgium's finest THE KIDS....Get this records!

Highly recommended. This CD is awesome. I don't get the other guys review. If you like The Marked Men (and Riverboat Gamblers), than I don't understand why you wouldn't like this. This was like finding a lost Marked Men CD. Best songs? Maybe "The Clear Is Coast" and "Gillette Napolean". The whole CD is catchy and super fun. The only mild complaint I have is the lack of anything exciting in the booklet. It pretty minimal like a Rip Off Records release. This CD is rad.
