Wow, Owls!

Pick Your Patterns

Perpetual Motion Machine 9

Released on April 19, 2005

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

A year after recording their "Mind Explosion" demo Richmond, Virginia's Wow, Owls! return in full force with their debut full length album, "Pick Your Patterns." Fronted by the energetic and poignant Jeffrey Byers (former bassist from Light The Fuse & Run), these five young men explode onward with nine dynamic passages of furious rock and fragile post-hardcore. They have received comparisons to to their Virginia predecessors, City Of Caterpillar and Sleepytime Trio, but equally evoke the passion and grit of genre pioneers, Antioch Arrow, Heroin and Portraits of Past. Includes a beautifully crafted, 12 page full color booklet designed by collage extraordinaire Adam Juresko, who has done album artwork by bands such as Stop It!!, Pink Razors, Life At These Speeds and Van Johnson.

I just have to say it's a shame this band won't be putting any new music out. I don't understand why all of the best bands break up. I love this cd. The music is simple but catchy and parts of the songs get stuck in your head. They are very memorable. This is the way a lot of other music should be. If you are into any kind of hardcore you will like this. I think more people should know about this band and like them.

Skramz-tacular. Excellent RVA screamo band, with members now in Mouthbreather, and... uhhh... other bands. Anyway, this is really good. The song titles are a little irritating, but the actual music makes up for the ironic posturing.

WOW, I'm impressed! This album is really good.. Solid driving melodic hardcore. Great production aswell. Not over-produced at all. And the lyrics kick ass. To bad so few have heard about them. Get this if your into any form of hardcore/punk/indie music!!
