Armor For Sleep

What To Do When You Are Dead

Equal Vision 104

Released on February 22, 2005

Armor for Sleep has come a long way from their beginnings of self-promotion and the breakout success of 2003’s Dream to Make Believe with Equal Vision Records. From tours with Fall Out Boy, Taking Back Sunday, Recover and packed out shows as headliners, the band built a rabid national following and is ready to break out in the world of current it-scene with their own brand of music.

It was this same notion that contributed heavily to the construction of the new album, where the band again fuses their literally haunting writing with a slew of melodies including electronica and hardcore. What To Do When You Are Dead is their next step, the next logical progression in the band’s identity, a purposeful balance between a self-contained concept album and a strong collection of songs. Armor for Sleep has demonstrated their ability to adapt from the beginning, and as they grow, stake a claim in the fluctuating genre they helped to create.

Expectations were really high on this one, I wasnt really sure what to expect, but really I didnt expect this. First Song "Car underwater" pretty solid, and it all went downhill from there. To be honest the reason I got this was for the free T-shirt (which I dont wear cuz its too big).

All in all Im sorry Armour for Sleep I cannot reccomend this album. :(

over-produced, it's really obvious Armor For Sleep was trying to hit it big with this one. every song sounds like it's a single. Dream To Make Believe i really liked.

this one not so much.

(PUNK) Very good cd if you are into this kind of music. I really like a few songs but over all I would give this cd 3 1/2 stars. It's recorded well, good stereo effects, some 808's and cool electronic sounds. I just don't feel it if you know what I mean. Some cd's just don't do it for me. I'm sure a lot of people love this cd though. Buy it to support Equal Vision they fuck shit up bitch. yeah... yeah... ok.

Armor For Sleep, I found their first cd to be rather boring. But, I really enjoy this record. To me, it's very progressive, and it's a decent concept album. Reminds me of Coheed and Cambria at times, but that's not a bad thing at all. Check it out if you're a fan of Coheed, or even if you like solid rock.

much better, but also very different than their first album. it's just as dark in the imagery, but with a far heavier sound. this is a concept album that works quite well - the order of the songs go through the character's death & afterlife. the lyrical content sets it apart from other cliche emo out there. i recommend this for new fans, it is far better than "dream to make believe", although they're hard to compare.

Armor For Sleep really proves themselves on this record. It is strong from start to finish including heavy and melodic, yet intricate guitar parts. The lyrics are amazing, so if you like really clever emo hooks similar to that of Brand New's "Deja" album, then you'll really enjoy this CD. This group really steps it up a notch in What To Do When You're Dead; I seem to think more and more that it compliments Dream To Make Believe, and takes it one step further. Overall, "What To Do" is an excellent sophomore album. AFS maintains their style and sound from "Dream", and brings new, more difficult music to the table. A good buy for fans of Dream to Make Believe.

Absolutely stunning, dense layered music with an excellent theme throughout. Concept album or not, its awesome, Get Dream to make believe first and then buy this.

This album is cool. Although every song is about when you're dead, i like it. This album has soft and hard songs, which makes it good.

I didn't like this album. I think it's so commercial or something. I don't know, but it wasn't made for me.
