I'd highly recommend this as your introduction to The Damned. I know most people, start off with Damned Damned Damned, I know I did, mainly because of the songs "Neat Neat Neat" and "New Rose." Those are both fantastic songs but I personally think Machine Gun Etiquette is the Damned's most solid effort from start to finish. Damned Damned Damned was raw and to the point, on Machine Gun Etiquette you have better songwriting and a better overall sound from the band. There are a lot more things going on musically on this album that gives it a darker and more melodic feel to it while staying true to the Brit-punk sound at the same time. Overall it's just a very enjoyable album from start to finish; there's not one bad track on here, this is one you can listen to from start to finish without skipping tracks... even the 9 added b-sides are worth listening too. So whatever you do, don't pass up Machine Gun Etiquette, this is a classic that should be in everyone's collection.
