Straylight Run

Straylight Run

Victory 2292

Released on October 12, 2004

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

STRAYLIGHT RUN started in May of 2003 when John Nolan and Shaun Cooper, formerly of TAKING BACK SUNDAY, began writing and recording new songs together with friends. When BREAKING PANGAEA disbanded, they invited drummer, Will Noon, to practice with them - soon he was a permanent part of the band. The band's line-up was complete when John's sister, Michelle, was asked to sing, play piano and guitar – bringing ethereal soprano harmonies and the versatility to switch instruments throughout their show.

After the demos were complete, STRAYLIGHT RUN made the unique decision to offer their entire recorded output to the public as free downloads, creating a huge buzz among fans. Reactions from the press were likewise enthusiastic, with Alternative Press choosing the band for inclusion in their January “Most Anticipated of 2004” issue.

A wonderful, heartfelt, and truly empathetic CD I loved every second of it. the sound was amazing, and you become enraptured and mesmerized by the amazing singing. John and his sister Michelle are both so talented...this CD is full of intense emotion and has no fillers in my opinion. Definately a 5/5.

Amazing. A few steps up from Taking Back Sunday I would say. John and Shaun deciding to leave was the smartest decision of their life.

Excellent CD. Aside from the music being beautifully arranged, the vocals are enough to get you locked into this after one listen. The female harmonies make a huge impact on the overall sound of the CD. Don't buy it if you're looking for TBS part II because it is a totally different genre. Very emo. It's a must have for any fans of piano based indie/emo music.

Ok, Straylight Run has broken the barrier of good music. This CD is amazing. I will never stop listening to this CD. This is the good that came out of John and Shaun leaving TBS. I strongly recommend this CD to all of you indie/emo listeners.

A pretty good release. Some of the songs on here are really pretty. I really wish John Nolan would have stayed in Taking Back Sunday though. If you are thinking this CD will be like TBS don't buy it. It's good but a lot more emo/indie and less screamo/punk. John's sister has a really pretty voice on this CD and it makes some of the tracks kind of a bonus to have the female backups. Buy this. TBS members you can't really go wrong.

I just have to say. I love this CD. I thought it was a sad thing that John Nolan left TBS, but man this is amazing. And the song with Nate from The Format. Great song. Probably my favorite.

Taking Back Sunday's album Tell All Your Friends was one of the most magnificently magic cds ever made, and I am a pretty huge fan of Breaking Pangea (an awesome live band), but with the creation of Straylight Run the breaking up of these two groups becomes perfectly clear. Straylight run is a mix of deeply poetic lyrics, amazingly mature musicians, and enchantingly melodic sibling-vocals of John and Michelle Nolan. This is music that will move you to experience emotion on a level that can only be described as extasy. You will not regret buying this cd.

definately not TBS, but still great. the album overall is very slow. most of the tracks are slower in tempo, with a few upbeat songs (tracks 6 + 8). very heavy in piano with great dual vocals by john & michelle. they have lived up to the hype surrounding them, and have made a solid debut album! i recommend this if you are a fan of Brand New or Dashboard.
