Dead Boys

Live At CBGB's 1977

Released on November 16, 2004

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

This 1977 performance from New York's legendary CBGB's proves why The Dead Boys were the epitome of snotty punk rock. Characterized by Stiv Bator's audience provoking on-stage antics, along with the band's aggressive power chord punch, the Dead Boys have earned their title as one of the greatest and most influential punk bands in history.

I am so glad that someone took the time to put this historic footage together. Alot of dead boys cds and vinyls are live footage, so now you can see what it was actually like to be there. The dead boys might not be that well known, but they were a lot better than the sex pistols ( i have nothing against the pistols though). Most of their best songs like "flame thrower love" and "sonic reducer" are on here. The stage is electrified by cheetah chromes guitars and stiv's stage antics. Not to many bands have someone blowing there nose on bologna and then eating it. There are alot of nice bonus materials on this dvd as well. The hilariousness of a live Steel Tips song, a hilly crystal interview, a band interview, and a present day cheetah chrome interview.

Surprisingly good footage for a '77 show. Stiv's performance is great. Also includes interview with cheetah chrome that was cool. If you like the Dead boys buy this DVD and you might love em even more.

I bought this for my cousin. I haven't watched it but he gives it a rave review. So if you were looking for nice thought out comments on it, look elsewhere.

this is a great DVD and for $13 how could you lose i mean it is the dead boys after all. the sound quality of the show is a 10 you can hear the vocals and all the intruments very clear and the picture quality is a 9, its a little messed up but this was filmed almost 30 years ago and being that old its in good condition. they play most of there best songs and stiv puts on a funny and great show, he even wips his nose with a piece of bologna and then eats it and spits parts on the crowd, he does a lot of other funny things to. the special featers are pretty good, you get to see what some of the dead boys look like now. my only complaint with this DVD isnt really with the DVD but with the crowd at the show, most of them never moved they just stood there like fucking rocks, there were a few people in the fron bouncing around doing a kind of disco version of the pogo. no one was moshing but i dont think the pit existed in 77. lots of rambling i know but just buy it, its great

wow. a great dvd, i must say. anybody that likes the dead boys, will definetly like this. it has interviews with the band at the end, and there's even a present day interview with cheetah. there's another band on here, the steel tips. they suck, but there's this one hairy guy that lights fire crackers all over his chest. that was cool.

Why was this not released years ago? Honestly, I'd like an explanation for it. This thing absolutly smokes. You get classic Dead Boys in a very high quality multiple camera shoot for under $13! My word! The song choice could have been a bit better, but that's only a tiny problem. What they do play is amazing, and the Stooges cover at the end is almost worth the price alone.

Stiv Bators, Cheetah Chrome, Jimmy Zero, Johnny Blitz, Jeff Magnum? Classic.
