| Ah Cap'n Jazz... where to start... Cap'n Jazz are a unique emo-art-punk band that broke up way back in 1995. They have a unique original sound that a lot of bands have taken from. At first I was a little overwhelmed by the sheer crazyness of the band but after a few spins I was hooked. Cap'n Jazz convey such emotion in all there songs although they were probably either drunk or high or both when they wrote them. Little League, In the Clear, Oh Messy Life are awesome songs. I bet some people dont like Cap'n Jazz just because they're too silly but I think that's part of their appeal. I definitly recommend downloading a song of theirs before buying. oh yeah... cd 2 i haven't really listen all that much to but cd 1 is alone worth the price.
Bill Brasky is a son of a bitch. The legend of Johnny Appleseed is based on Brasky's life...except the part about planting apple trees and not raping men. |

| This album packs the variety. You get 100 minutes of a very original band playing great emo/indie. Great place to start if you want to get into bands like Joan of Arc and Owls. |

| I just recently started to get into indie/"emo" (take the word emo for what it's worth now, which translates into anyones guess) and started to purchase some Joan of Arc, Engine Down, American Football, Sunny Day Real Estate, the Owls, etc. type CDs. Everything I bought with either just one or both of the Kinsella brothers was just incredible; so I figured I better get the beginning project of both brothers to hear how they got this whole Chicago indie/punk thing started. After listening through the first disk I was hooked. I realized what everyone was telling me about caP N' Jazz was absolutely true: lots of raw emotion, crazy lyrics, great riffs, great music. Like the standard line goes, you really can't classify this band. They are completely unpredictable, almost out of control at times. They teeter on the verge of sounding like a high school garage band but somehow they pull it off into sounding genious. My suggestion is to purchase this CD and hear how the Kinsella brothers started things off. |

| Amazing record. First in the line of the Tim Kinsellas bands. Quite raw and emotional. This band set the art/punk movement in Chicago rolling. If nothing else buy it just because it's 2 cd's for less than one in the store. If you're down with this, check out: Joan of Arc, Owls, Ghosts and Vodka, American Football |

| WOW!!! Cap'n Jazz is an incredible band. I didn't really know what to expect when I put the CD in my discman. Right from the opening track, "Little League", I knew I was listening to something that couldn't be labeled or classified or given a generic name. This is original stuff. Tim Kinsella's vocals are just spewed out of his mouth at an incredible pace, releasing relentless anger and frustration with gut wrenching screams. Tim's screaming alone adds so much power to the music. The instruments on this two disc set also kick ass, with hard hitting guitars and upbeat drumming. And with two disks, there is enough tracks present to keep the listener hooked for a long time. This right here is groundbreaking music. |

| Cap'n Jazz in an amazing band. I don't really think I could give this a genre. There are definetely Indie and emo elements. If you don't like screaming, this CD may be hard to listen to. However, I enjoyed this CD thuroughly and if your into bands like Sonic Youth or the Promise Ring buy it. (I think the Promise Ring has members from Cap'n Jazz). |
