Anti-Flag's Major Label debut!

Since For Blood And Empire is their first album since the 2004 Presidential debacle, Anti-Flag has amassed a lot to say. So, this time around they’ve enlisted the help of RCA Records, but in true Anti-Flag fashion, the band insisted For Blood and Empire still be done their way. They approached Rick Rubin protégé Dave Schiffman (System of a Down, Thrice, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Audioslave), to co-produce with them. With Schiffman by their side, the band’s messages are sounding bigger and more intense than ever.

Overall a great CD, some amazing songs and some bellow average. The whole Rca thing dosent seem to have effected the quality as i feel its far better than terror state, definatley worth the wait to ship from the US as it apparently had an import ban for a while in the UK?

4/8/2006 by Steve from Rimouski, PQ Canada Rating:
This is the greatest Anti-Flag album ever made. Every songs are goods and have something original. They are really well composed and the message they want to give to us is clearly stated. I never get tired of listening this album again and again. Congratulation Anti-Flag, continue your great job and see you back Live!

Buy this album, you won't regret it!!!!

4/2/2006 by Tony from Westlake, OH Rating:
The Cd is ok. I think that one trillion dollars is the worst song they have ever written, and cities burn is #3 on the worst of all time list. However, to balance this out, The WTO kills farmers, Hymn for the dead, The project for a new american century, Confessions of an economic hitman, and Depleted Uranium is a war crime are all amazing songs and in that respect, the good outweigh the bad. I recommend picking this album up if given the chance. The only other major downside to this album is the fact that all these poser fans have come along for the band thinking, "OMG one trillion dollars is the most amazing song like, EVERRRRR. Please let me put in on my MYSPACEEEE." Overall the album gets a 7/10.

4/2/2006 by Rod from Dillingham, AK Rating:
This is Pop Garbage. it's full of catchy riffs and clapping. it sounds like the government killed anti-flag and replaced them with this new pop group. if your into good charlotte i guess this would be good for you or maybe if you liked the terror state. but if you liked underground network and die for the government and if you like punk music, dont go for this one.

3/31/2006 by Vina from Orange City, FL Rating:
over all it is a good album but it is no under ground network or mobilize the best songs on it in my opion are 1 trillion dollars, and hymn for the dead. if you are a hardcore a-f fan you might not like this record it is a little more main stream than the other records but is still worth the money.

3/30/2006 by Christopher from Plymouth, MI Rating:
This album was KICK ASS!!!!The recording was really good, it still kind of pisses me off that Anti-Flag signed to a major label, but at least they didnt go all pop-punk shit. Definetly buy this album! If you liked Mobilized and Terror State, you'll love this!

3/29/2006 by Jason from Mineola, NY Rating:
Alright, I pre-ordered this CD and it came in the mail the day before it came out, but I decided to wait a little bit before I reviewed it so I wouldn't sound like a total fanboy while reviewing this (ex: like omgz this album is like the best album they've ever put out omgz omgz BUY IT NOW!!!!). Now that I've had it for a little over a week I feel I can give a less fanyboy-ish review.

I have listened to this album over 40 times now and it has yet to lose its magnificence. This truly is an outstanding album, I think it may have surpassed "Die for the Government" and "A New Kind of Army" as being my favorite record that the A-F boys have put out. Don't let the little record label logo on the back of this album sway you from buying this album, just get it! This picks off right where "The Terror State" left off, but manages to be infinitely better.

Musically, lyrically, and aestheically, this album goes above and beyond all of their previous efforts. The packaging is superb! It comes with a neat stencil of the classic "Gun-Star" logo, and "WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO ABOUT THE U.S.A.?" typing that they also encourage the stenciling of, it's cool for tagging and making shirts. The booklet also has very insightful essays and such from a Rwanda Genocide survivor, John Perkins (Author of "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man", and it explains the titles/subject matter of their songs and shows many of the political communities that they've started and support.

This is without a doubt one of the most crucial albums of the year, get it.

thank you interpunk, a small victory against my brothers (i won't burn it for them. ha ha) All the anti-flag music is shit-good but this album is exceptional! all who say (i like the old stuff better than the new stuff, because they changed to a major label, can get fucked! You know nothing about music or the progression of punk rock) P.C. punk is more important than u think!! (reaching a bigger audience!!) In closing, if your a true A-F fan u will not be disappointed! buy it and by one more incase it get's scratched!

3/28/2006 by Chris from Bowling Green, OH Rating:
Ok, let's see. Anti-Flag has always been a great punk band. People who are all about uncompromising, loud, fast street punk but don't really care about anything else (like melody and distinguishable talent) will always love Die For The Government the most followed by A New Kind of Army, but honestly each record has been much better than the last. Mobilize topped Underground Network and the BYO Split topped that. The Terror State was a masterpiece all the way through and I was hoping that this album would be even better, but I don't think I can say that it's true. This album is a great album, but by Anti-Flag's standards, it's only good.

One problem is that they fill this album with one too many cliches, and it's not the fact that they use cliches that ruins it, but it's because they are cliches that they have used before (see "Project For A New American Century" and "The W.T.O. Kills Farmers"). Some may be astonished by the poppiness of tracks like "This Is The End (For You My Friend)" and "Cities Burn". That doesn't mean that those songs are bad, but it's just something to think about. Fans of loud and fast Anti-Flag will enjoy "Emigre", "I'd Tell You But...", "State Funeral" amd "Depleted Uranium Is A War Crime," the last three of which could have easily been on The Terror State by the sound of them. Most of the songs are good, especially "The Press Corpse" and "1 Trillion Dollar$" the latter of which is probably only good because it almost sounds like it could have been from Justin's solo project and it's kind of dumb and funny.

The packaging is interesting. The sleeve sucks really, but that's only because (and some may deny it) it is a form of censorship a-la the Terror State's alternate sleeve. Major labels don't want people seeing the real cover for ovvious, major-label reasons. The artwork is cool I guess, but nothing compares to the craftsman ship and effort put into The Terror State's package. And sometimes when I look at it, with the exception of the White House shot, I feel like they kinda half-assed it. They put some good information in there in terms of essays and such, but it's sort of hard to sit there and read all of it because the black on red and white is a bit hard on the eyes.

Overall, I would recommend this to any fan of Anti-Flag, but punker-than-thou punx may want to beware. I think this album was meant to introduce broader audiences to Ant-Flag's music and message and in that, it has succeeded astonishingly, at least it will if lots of people buy it. It has some of the old (harder tracks), some of the new (poppy tracks) and good old fashioned predictable Anti-Flag slogans. So enjoy as much of can of it. I got a free t-shirt with the purchase, so I'm not complaining.

3/28/2006 by Alex from West Olive, MI Rating:
i likes this album alot. its like the terror state but kinda different. i have their other 6 releases. it doesn't compare to die for the government. but im glad i got it. it also came with a badass free shirt. buy it.
