This CD is the Blood Brothers at one of their most raw forms. While the production is lower, and the diversity in sounds is lacking, it is still a power packed punch of screamo goodness.

2/23/2005 by Richard from Suisun City, CA Rating:
I bought this CD for the "collector's value". Personally, I liked "Burn, Piano Island..." and "Crimes" alot more than their older stuff. However, if you liked "March on Electric Children" or any of their old stuff, you will love this CD.

1/23/2005 by Carlos from Los Angeles, CA Rating:
This is a great cd for some reason it kind of reminds me a bit of crimes just cuz its not as hard as march electric children don't get me wrong it still is hard screaming and everything but this cd gives you a little bit more time to take in the songs its great work on behalf of the band and well if you live in the los angeles area go see them for free at amoeba records!

8/28/2004 by Tommy from Hope, AR Rating:
Its the blood brothers, everyone would agree, its certainly not their best, but its certainly not bad.

8/7/2004 by Andie from Sonora, CA Rating:
I just recently started getting into the Blood Brothers and they are good. Very good actually. This is the 3rd cd I have purchased of theirs (the first being "Burn, Piano Island, Burn" and the second being "March on Electric Children") and I prefer this second to "Burn, Piano Island, Burn" but this album is still an amazing work of art. This album has been in my cd player since I got it and will most likely remain there for awhile. It's like nothing I've ever heard before. It's raw as hell and the vocals are fucking insane. It's maniacal. I love it.

Stand out tracks: "Doctor! Doctor!" and "Time for Tenderness"

Well, I figured I'd continue my rant about the awe-inspiring mayhem that is the Blood Brothers by reviewing their first, and perhaps most raw, album, "This Adultery is Ripe".

I have to say that I still prefer "Burn Piano Island Burn" and "March On" to this album, but that doesn't mean that this recording doesn't have it's amazing moments. For a long time this album collected dust in my cd rack whilst I played the later two albums on almost continuous rotation.

I had listened to "Adultery" once or twice, but it didn't really catch my attention. I think it's probably because the sound is a lot less polished (if you can call the Blood Brothers "polished"...), and overall it just sounds very disjointed and spastic. This is an excellent precursor to the avenues that the Blood Brothers explore in their newer albums, since their signature sound is very unique - try to picture someone having a seizure while playing guitar or singing/screaming, and you might start to grasp the concept. This one's got some great songs like "Doctor! Doctor!" and "Mutiny on the Ark of the Blood Brothers", but it's definitely something I'd recommend for the veteran Blood Brothers fan.

Hell, the Blood Brothers at their most under-developed still have way more talent than the majority of the "punk" bands that get rave reviews and major label distribution. What does that tell you? Maybe it's time to move beyond the music that the record companies tell you to listen to, and take a risk on a band that actually has substance and talent.

1/12/2004 by Rob from High Bridge, NJ Rating:
"This Adultery Is Ripe", the debut full-length by the Blood Brothers, is obviously much rawer than their later material, but it's nevertheless quite an impressive showing. The songs, specifically "Rescue", "Doctor! Doctor!", "James Brown", "Mutiny On the Ark of the Blood Brothers", "Marooned On Piano Island", and "Jennifer" are astounding.

I dig this disc. For newcomers to the band, I'd recommend "Burn, Piano Island, Burn", but for those acquainted with the Blood Brothers' newer sound, I'd recommend this album along with "March On Electric Children."

11/10/2003 by Brad from Tucson, AZ Rating:
This cd is flat out amazing. Very weird; lots of crazy riffs and jarring screams. The instrumentals are very simple, but play their role well in this vocal dominated music. Also, the story starts to develop in this album. The Blood Brothers are complete geniuses who make amazing music. Buy this if you're not an asshat.

Standout Tracks: Rescure, Doctor! Doctor!, The Face in the Embryo, James Brown, Mutiny on the Ark of the Blood Brothers, Jordan Billie Pets the Wild Horse's Mane, Marooned on Piano Island, This Adultery is Ripe, Time for Tenderness, and Jennifer. In other words, the whole cd owns.

9/3/2003 by Sean from Dix Hills, NY Rating:
i wish i was a blood brother. look, this music takes some getting used to, but if youre even remotely interested in the brothers, id reccomend 'burn, piano island, burn'. if the record makes you cry from shear brilliance, id purchase 'march on electric children' next. finally, when you get the money, this makes the trio of the best blood brothers albums in my opinion. 'march on' just appeals more to me. fav. tracks: rescue, the face in the embryo, jordan blilie pets the wold horses mane, marooned on piano island, and this adultery is ripe

6/12/2003 by Dave from Guelph, Canada Rating:
Of the three Blood Brothers full lengths, this one is in my opinion the strangest...but that's a good thing. At times this record sounds like pure hardcore, and at other times it sounds like some crazy folk influenced garage rock (in my opinion of course). Overall this is a fucking kickass cd though, and if you're into the Blood Brothers at all buy it right now. If you haven't bought a Blood Brothers record I suggest buying March On Electric Children first. Standout tracks on this album include Doctor! Doctor!, James Brown, Mutiny on the Ark of the Blood Brothers, and Marooned on Piano Island. Oh, and this record is where the Piano Island story begins. Pure genius. I love these fucking guys.
