| It's a real shame that AFI have gotten so much hate, but if closed-minded ignoramuses want to stereotype them as "sell-out emo" or whatever, and ignore great albums like this, then so be it. I've listened to hundreds and hundreds of albums from all different genres, and this one is still one of my top five favorite albums of all time. I don't love this because it's hardcore punk or whatever: genre doesn't matter. It's just an incredible album all-around. It's fast-paced, aggressive, emotional, and sentimental. From the pummeling, brief-but-abrasive intro "Initiation" to the beautiful, shimmering closer "Morningstar," this is truly an experience like no other. The LP version comes in all different colors - my copy is pale tannish-copper colored marble vinyl with flecks of many other colors. Plus, there's the non-CD track "Dream of Waking" between "Story at Three" and "The Days of The Phoenix" (though the CD's hidden track "Battled" isn't here.)
Excellent work, AFI. 5-star reviews get thrown around a lot, but this seriously deserves it. |

| It came as a Marble (grey) vinyl which was a surprise. The album itself is one of AFI's best. This is not a conventional punk record so people will naturally dislike it but I like the diverse punk/goth (lyrics) direction. |

| This album is just amazing! It is even better because this album is only limited to 300 copies, depending on what color vinyl you have. A very good investment on this record, definitely one of my favorite albums of all time. |

| This album is pretty decent, although I don't like it as much as "Black Sails." The sound quality on this record is excellent; like one reviewer said, it's noticeably better than on the CD. Dream of Waking is a cool song, and the colored vinyl is fun to look at. Unfortunately, this LP does not have the secret song at the end of the CD version. |
