Good raw girl punk. It is pretty great. But not my favorite band. It is catchy but some of songs fall into the whole cliche punk attitude. Which is good for some but for me I need more. But defiantly better than anything Rancid has put out. Rancid=Cliche and not very much depth.

I had this CD a long time ago and since I hadn't heard anything about this band since they broke up...I kind of wanted to go back and hear these songs again. I remember there were alot of rumors circulating that Brody had a lot of help from Tim Armstrong in constructing these songs. Although that may not be true, it did make me hungry to here these jams again. This is a good album. And no matter how much I didn't like situation between Brody and Tim....I have to say all the Distillers albums were good. I especially like this one because it has the original players who quit to join Exene Cervenka in her new band THe Original Sinners. Some classics on here.

This CD is wonderful. Very fast and very energetic punk. Not a whole lot like Coral Fang. All the songs are fast. CD clocks in at 40 minutes. Brody Dalle was still married to Tim Armstrong when the record was made. So yes it is comparable to Rancid's Self-Titled 2000 CD. This debut CD features the original lineup of the Distillers and all the members are girls except the drummer, Mat Young. Lots of harmonies on this because the bassist and the other guitarist sing with Brody. Its catchy as hell. This goes just as hard or harder than Sing Sing Death House, so if you liked Sing Sing Death House then this is a must have! At the end of the last track (The Blackest Years not the Blackout Years as interpunk puts it) there is a minute of silence and then Brody starts to play a song with just her and her guitar. That song is Young Girl which is track 8 on Sing Sing Death House, which came out about exactly 2 years later. I am looking forward to the new Distillers CD if it ever comes out. It was due in 2005 and that didn't happen. Bassist Ryan Sinn was the last bassist for the Distillers and he quit and is now in a band called Angels and Airwaves, but I hope that Brody pulls together another crew and gets another album off the ground. A must have for Distillers fans! Lyrics are included but they are very small print.

A decent debut record. I reccomend Coral Fang over this one just because it really shows how they evolved alot musically. Brody can out-growl Courtney Love anyday.

the distillers are still one of my favorite bands. Brody's voice is so fucking sexy! this and sing sing death house are their best cds. i dont think you should buy coral fang... the cd isnt anything like the distillers old stuff and would be a let down if you actually spent money on it.... but definately buy this cd! its the best distillers cd in my opinion.

The Distillers are a very underrated band. The best female fronted band since 45 Grave. This album is a little more "punk" than the other two and features a almost female line-up(with the exclusion of the drummer).
