Grade - And Such Is Progress
Grade blend together elements of hardcore, rock, metal, pop and punk so well that the final product ends up being greater than the sum of the individual parts, if you can even imagine such a thing is still possible in this world. Anthemic, emotional, and Canadian. This band has it all! Originally released on Victory Records.

Pretty typical mid-90's screamo. I guess Grade became poppier after a few albums on Victory, but this (their first) is pretty hardcore. I dunno, it's ok. I don't like the production too much. The screamo cover of "Ziggy Stardust" is worth the album price.

Grade is awesome. BUT, if you're new to Grade, don't buy this album! Instead, try "Under the Radar" which has a very non-traditional screamo punk feel to it; it's a really good change of pace from the ordinary crap you're listening to. You could also try "Embarrassing Beginings" which has more of a death metal feel to it; it's still pretty good if you're into that sort of thing. The new one with the devil on it (I forgot the name) is decent too although Grade seems to have reverted back to their metal days. Overall, this particular album sounds like you're using the bathroom in some dive bar, unintenionally listening to some fat guy taking a huge crap in the stall next to you.

This is a great album from one of the most original bands I've ever heard. It's just as good as"Under The Radar". Its a different sound from their latest releases, more raw with heavier guitar playing. Definitely pick this up if you don't have it. Theres even a cool cover of David Bowie's "Ziggy Stardust." The more you listen to this album, the more you like it.
