| Thanks FDH for taking care of reissuing this long gone out-of-print first LP by these German garages punker! If you don’t know these guy by now you should bite your fingers right now because they made some the best Garage Punk’n’roll/Power Pop music available these days. Go get "Neon Signs" right fucking now….Ok so "Ransom notes and telephone calls" is their first LP originally release on top notch German Label "Alien Snatch records". This one is faster, more raw and primitive than their second incredible LP "Neon Signs" who had a more developed Punk Power Pop approach. "Ransom notes" is a furious trashy punk garage masterpiece influenced by Teengenerate ("Hey Hey Hey" is actually a cover of a Teengenerate song but with different lyrics), Loli And The Chones (they cover "Everybody Hates Me"), The Kids and Rip Off Records style kinda band. Some songs ("Maximum Rock’N’Roll") would have fit perfectly in Kidnappers member’s first band The Highschool Rockers. But overall, You just can’t go wrong with songs like "Midnight Ritz", "A Bit of Your Love" and "Marky Nimrod" which is apparently about the drummer of a band called The Nimrods. Anyway, this FDH reissue is limited to 500 copies so I bet you this won’t take too long before they are long gone. Get it now while they last. The Kidnappers is supposed to release a 10" for Alien Snatch maybe somewhere this year. I am really looking forward to hear their new songs. This band seems to follow the path made by band like Teengenerate or Registrators which started as furious garage trashy punk’n’roll band and ended up dealing with a more Power Pop oriented approach (see post Teengenerate band Firestarter or Registrators albums "Velocity" or the "Water Closet split 7”" both Japanese import.), which is totally fine with me! |
