I need to listen to this some more. I read where a lot of people said this was their favorite Naked Raygun album. So far I think it's pretty good, but I do prefer "Jettison". Once again this Quaterstick reissues contain bonus tracks.

3/28/2007 by Doug from Edmonton, AB Canada Rating:
This album is a classic in the eyes of many, but it really didn't do it that much for me. aside from a few standout tracks like "rat patrol" and "surf combat" it's not all that great.

I've given this a lot of thought... if I was given the chance force everyone in the world to listen to one album and only one album, it would be Naked Raygun's "Throb Throb." This album seems to be somewhat of an unknown classic. It just baffles me how one of Chicago's best bands of all time has failed to become a common name among the likes of other classic and influential bands, like Husker Du for example. It's just a flat out wall of amazing heavy punk rock with elements of hardcore and a uniqueness all on its own.

Once you hear the song Rat Patrol you know the rest of the album is going to lead you through the ride of your life. Every song is just so powerful and controlling of your senses. Rat Patrol, Surf Combat, Gear, Metastasis, I Don't Know, Libido, No Sex, Only In America, and Managua are all hard hitting post hardcore punk rock. Each song has a different element of anger, excitement and fury. The songs Leeches and Roller Queen are the most insane and twisted out of all of them. Only In America is the most fun, the saxophone in the song just rules.

There is only so many ways I can say how brilliant and overwhelming this album is. You seriously need to just listen to this from start to finish and find out for yourself. I just cannot stress enough how Throb Throb needs to be one of the classic albums that should be a mainstay in everyone's collection because of its influence and ability to be a timeless work of art 20+ years later.

12/29/2002 by Bill from Chicago, IL Rating:
This makes me proud to be a Chicagoan. It really does. more so than the Effigies, and more so than Big Black, Naked Raygun (and articles of faith) are the best Chicago bands of all time.

Rat Patrol sets up the album, and it never lets down for 34 minutes. I highly recomend this
