This cd is just as good as damaged. Some songs on this cd are even better than their normal versions:for example the process of weeding out sounded way more twisted and evil than the normal version. This cd is long and every song kicks ass, definately worth 14 bucks.

eeehhhh...its not that good. i guess cuz the songs are songs im unfamiliar with. most of them are long-ass songs too. one is almost 9 minutes. the shortest is like a minute and a half. the bass needs to be turned up and rollins mic needs to be turned up as well. rollins voice isnt all throaty and raspy like on some of their other albums. its just deep and mean(yet very good). overall, the CD kinda bores me. but ill prolly end up liking it lots after listening to it over and over. almost 74 minutes long --- be ready for an all-nighter.

Although not a bad live album, I found this to be a disappointment.

I expected the full intensity of the Black Flag live experience, raw and uncut. Much is cut out between songs, even though what was already there was but a mere statement of the song's title. The sound quality also isn't too great. The guitar, bass, and drums sound pretty good, but Rollins's frantic growls fade in and out, and the vocals aren't up to par.

The studio versions of all the songs on this album are better than these versions. I'd have to say the best versions on this CD are "Black Coffee", "My War", and "I Love You".

"Live '84" is only for die-hard Black Flag fans. For an intro to the band, I'd recommend "Loose Nut". Most would recommend "Damaged", which I actually think pales in comparison to the later stuff (as well as Keith Morris era Black Flag).

Heavy on the "Slip It In" and "My War" material. Good stuff, decent recording, but not enough of the "Damaged" and pre-Henry stuff. I wish they'd release a live CD of stuff before Henry was in the band. Anyway, I like some of the versions here better than the studio recordings. It sounds like there was a lot of energy in this band that might have been dulled in the studio by the search for "perfection", especially when it comes to the "My War" stuff. Lots of songs, very little between-song banter. I always imagined Henry to be a little more talkative on stage. There is also virtually no improvising here at all. All the songs are pretty faithful to the original recordings. Very good addition to your Black Flag collection.

Decent live CD. I would rather listen to the studio tracks on their albums, though. For fans of Black Flag (and those that want to hear a fresh version of the studio tracks), you should get this!
