MU330

Ultra Panic

Asian Man 86

Released on April 16, 2002

$13.00
$7.99

Playing their brand of high energy ska, MU330 gives us their 7th full length release. Ultra Panic has the band playing more ska than any of their previous albums. With the help of BLUE MEANIES organist Chaz Boy and saxaphonist John Paul Camp III lending their talents, it is obvious after one listen that this is perhaps one of the finest ska releases in the last ten years.

I agree with Jon, NOT at all with Julie (These guys don't come close to Operation Ivy). There are some songs that are really good, and then there are some that aren't so good. I wouldn't say I regret buying this album, but there are definitely better Third-Wave Ska albums on this website.

This isn't exactly a generic thid wave ska band. MU330 is something that ska fans of this day will like to listen to when kicking back on the couch with a bong and a TV remote. This is a nice laidback CD. There aren't many points when the music is aggresive, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. "Ultra Panic" goes up and down with songs, where you get a good one, then a not so good one, and so on. But it's worth getting if you want something more mellow.

They should call this cd "Ultra Mellow". While some of the song are fast, furious, and catchy, they lack in length. Right as I'm getting into a song, it ends. That may work for some bands, but not this one. I see a lot of potential in MU330, but this cd just doesn't convey a very definitive ska-core sound. Vocals are good, though, somewhat reminiscent of Rx Bandits or Sublime. You may want to pass on this one. If you want some real aggressive ska, you should definately check out Big D and the Kids Table, Los Rudiments, or everyone's favorite...the Suicide Machines!

There are few bands who play amazing ska music and stay true to it. This is definitley one of them. The horns flow perfect with the political lyrics that they are known for. Crab Rangoon was their best album, but now it is definitley Ultra Panic. If you're a ska fan at all, you have to get this.

This cd was hard for me to get used to at first because it is really pure ska, but once i listened to it a few times, it was amazing. This is a really good cd. I loved it because I really love ska, but if you like more punk, dont get this. Tell Another One and Hey Now are the best songs on the cd. Definately buy this if you like ska.
