Bright eyes, a truly enchanting band. This EP is really quite good. I really like "we are free men". its one of my all time favs. they should have put it on the "lifted" album. These guys truly have something that most groups dont. talent.

Sweet Jesus, these songs give me the vapors! Especially We Are Free Men. Everytime I hear that line go "we will be lifted up from all of this," and that bit about transcending insignificance and such, that just pulls at me. That's what I love about this music, it pulls at me. I don't ever get that in the levels and flavors that Bright Eyes puts down. They never cease to please. It's delicious.

Certainly the better of the two Bright eyes eps i own (this and Every day/night) however, as with all bright eyes stuff i am usually left feeling somewhat underwealmed...bring on Damien rice or Elliot smith if this is your style i say!...and if your feeling a little more intense then go buy some Bleeding through or Unearth...This is good, sure, but the hype surrounding bright eyes seems a little unjust

| This EP is definitly worth it for the three songs that do not appear on the album "Lifted: Or the Story is in the Soil Keep Your Ear to the Ground." They are really good and its neat to hear three other songs with the all the musicians that played on "Lifted.." If you are new to Bright Eyes I would go with either "Lifted.." or "Fevers and Mirrors."

Being a huge Bright Eyes fan that I am, I had to get this EP to complete my collection. This EP, however short, was very well put together and a wonderful disc to ready fans for what was to come on 'Lifted...'. My favorite song on this EP was 'Loose Leaves' probably b/c it was a bit faster than the other 3 songs, but 'From a Balance Beam' is good too. I recommend buying Conor's other EP 'Every Day and Every Night' if you like the more faster paced songs, but if you are into slow and mellow pick this one up, hell, pick them all up b/c once you hear your first ever Bright Eyes song you will have to do just that.

when i put my order through for this, Interpunk hadn't posted anything more than the title, so i didnt know it was only 4 tracks long. oh well. this just makes me more excited about the forthcoming album. great songs, as always. put down that Saves the Day CD and buy this... if you're ready for some GOOD emo.
