| This album is insane.This band is the best of both metal and hardcore worlds.The vocals are great ranging from ear piercing shrieks of violence and terror, to low growling death threats.The lyrics are so graphic and cryptic.Like the words from the diary of a serial killer.The guitars are brutally technical yet raunchy with the some of the best breakdowns recorded.The drums are clear and audible.Between break-neck speeds to grinding, slow breakdowns.And, the fillers are awesome.I heard of this band on the Hellfest Vol.3 DVD and instantly fell in love.A must have for any lovers of the above mentioned genres.Grade A material. |

| I bought this CD after seeing them on the Hellfest 2003 DVD, and I was very impressed. Not to mention their drummer(Mike Justain) now drums for Unearth, and that new Unearth CD kills. Very insane speed grind metal mixed with crazy breakdowns and lightning fast structure changes. |

| Let me just start off by saying that I don't agree with the people who say that Between the Buried and Me rips off these guys. Aside from grind beats and breakdowns and the low voice, they are two completely different bands. That said, this record is amazing from start to finish. I was only familiar with "Dreaming in Dog Years" when I bought it; I bought it on a whim. I do that often, and sometimes it turns out to be a failure, other times it turns out great. This is one of the times it turns out great. Intense, fast, heavy (the breakdowns are thankfully spaced out within the songs....making them much more effective) and just simply breathtaking. I used to be not too into metal-influenced music; I thought it was cheesy. Now I know that when it's done right, metal/grind can be some truly awesome music. The Red Chord have done it right. Buy this. |

| this is heavy heavy heavy metalcore with flashes of tech. this isn't fake and pussy like Bleeding Through and it's tougher than Ringworm. My only gripe is that some of the times the songs blend into eachother. otherwise, this album is the heavyiest you'll ever find. Listen to that certain special ugly and you'll flip |

| Pure aggression from start to finish, this metalcore band don't let up for a second and before you know it the album is over. Sure the songs do kinda run into each other but the fact that this is so heavy and aggressive makes you forget that and just start to smash things up to the music! Good stuff, infact the track "That Certain Special Ugly" has to be one of my favourite songs of all time. |

| This is a very unique CD. These guys combine elements of grind, hardcore, and black metal like pure alchemists. The result is a very good sound that progresses throughout the CD without any signs of slowing down. It reminds me of technical hardcore/grind bands like Eyes Upon Separation, Luddite Clone, and Burnt By The Sun (and The Dillinger Escape Plan, of course). I wasn't really in to the guys much until I got this CD because my comp speakers really doesn't give you the full experience of their sound and it sounded generic. But they are fucking far from it. Songs like Nihilist, Breed The Cancer, and Sixteen Bit Fingerprint are all performed well and are the standout tracks on this CD. Only minor problem is that like all other hardcore/metal discs, it's still very short (like 29 mins.) but it makes sense considering the quality of the songs and that pretty much every other disc of this genre is about the same. Buy this motherfucker. Odds are, you won't regret it....and if you do, I'll fucking kill you. |
