im pretty shure this is bright eyes first full length, i was scared to listen at first, thinking id be... unimpressed, wrong, i layed on my bed and melted to the whole album, buy it, you wont be sorry.... i promice.

5/8/2006 by Robyne from Corona, CA Rating:
This is Conor's first full length. It is good, but just doesn't compare to later releases such as Fevers And Mirrors (my favorite Bright Eyes album, and one of my favorite albums ever) or Lifted. If you are a Bright Eyes fan and already have the best stuff, then buy this. You won't be dissapointed. My favorite song on here is June On The West Coast.

Beautiful. This man is so talented, even at such a young age. I wish I could express myself the way that Conor Oberst does. I definately suggest you buy this! I'm not sure if it's best for your first Bright Eyes CD, (if you're new to Bright Eyes, try Fevers and Mirrors)..though I'm sure you'll love it either way, if you're into this kind of music. If you like Bright Eyes at least, you have to get it. Wonderful debut.

3/9/2005 by Aaron from Lithopolis, OH Rating:
this release is pretty sweet. good ol' bright eyes, great band. i consider this release to be up right there with lifted or even better.

5/15/2004 by Mike from Sharpsville, PA Rating:
First, Bright Eyes is not for everyone. OK, that said, this album is great. Not as good as Fevers and Mirrors or Lifted... but still a great debut. I bought this album for my ex-girlfriend, but i already have a copy. If you have heard Bright Eyes before then I suggest you buy this but I suggest you listen to them first because they have the most original sound ever. Oh for christ's sake just buy it! It's Fucking Bright Eyes!!

3/25/2004 by Jessica from Renton, WA Rating:
I suggest this album....if you've already decided you like Bright Eyes. More raw than the recent albums, and Conor hadn't really solidified his sound (including his voice) yet. However, this CD is emotionally heavy and filled with gut-wrenching, knife-in-your-heart lyrics. Conor Oberst is a literary genius, this is just an earlier chapter.

12/31/2003 by Tony from Cincinnati, OH Rating:
One of Bright Eyes best CD's If Winter Ends and The City has Sex are awesome songs....the first Bright Eyes CD i got was the collection which is pretty good but some of the vocals are god awful...no worries though there is none of that on this one...Really cool guitar and brilliant lyrics

3/30/2003 by Truitt from Fresno, CA Rating:
Conor Oberst = Jesus

I've never heard such brilliant music. All Bright Eyes Albums should get 5 stars.

If you're just getting in to Bright Eyes I would recomend Fevers and Mirrors. But if you're already into Bright Eyes than you should already have this album
