I was somewhat dissapointed with this book. The other reviews made it seem better than it actually was. not to say this was bad, it just wasn't what I expected. I was hoping for some more content on Straight-Edge itself, but it's more focused on Hardcore music and the people's lives now, as opposed to the actual movement at the time. This is all interviews, with pictures sprinkled in, there is no actual written part by the author like I hoped there would be. Some of what the people being interviewed say is repedative, but it's still interesting. I'd say this book is more for those who were actually part of the scene at the time, as opposed to those who are younger looking to learn more about it, like me. All in all, it wasn't a bad read, but I'm sure there are better books out there

Great Book! Can get a little repetitive after a while due to the format of the book. Interview after interview of everyone assosiated with the straight edge scene. Every interview starts to sound exactly the same after about halfway through the book. However this is an amazing source of information and insight into the SXE hardcore scene. It even helped me to write a paper for a college level class. Most interesting are the interviews with females involved with the scene and how they grew out of it because of the masculine dominance of the whole "movement". very interesting reading.

This is one of the best books i have ever read, but the title is misleading. It is more about the 80's and 90's hardcore scene than straight edge. Many people that were interviewed in this book say they have nothing to do with straight edge. The pictures and flyers are awesome. None the less, its a great book about the hardcore scene.

I flew through this book. It's comprised of interviews from all the influencial people who were inlvolved with straight edge, when it first began in the early 1980s. This book is very interesting, if you're like me and weren't around(or alive) for the Minor Threats or the Youth of Todays, it'll clue you in to people and the scene. The only thing I didn't like about this book was negative undertones of the author at some points. She was never straight edge, and almost seemed pleased when someone sold out the straight edge lifestyle. Besides that, this book has some amazing photos and old show flyers that bring it to life. Edge or not, this is a great book for anone who appreciates hardcore.
