Lafayette, Indiana’s The Green Room Rockers and Cincinnati, Ohio’s The Pinstripes represent two of the most exciting bands coming out of the Midwest today. Both bands are firmly rooted in the fertile grounds of classic Jamaican Reggae, Rocksteady, and Ska, combining it with various American influences, most notably classic RnB, to create a sound that pays respect to it’s roots while injecting it with new life and energy.
On the forefront of a revived musical movement that is growing exponentially thanks in part to the growing success of bands like the Aggrolites, Slackers, Westbound Train, etc. each band has spent the past few years touring coast to coast. Gaining admiration from new found fans who come out to dance and groove to their sweaty, floor pounding shows.
Released on Dashiki Clout Records, the label run by Mustard Plug front man Dave Kirchgessner, The Midwest Soundclash, commemorates the 30th anniversary of the classic Specials/Selector split 7“ that ignited the British Two Tone era. It features three, all new recordings by each band, these songs represent new milestones in quality for both band both in terms of songwriting, musicianship and recording.
