| A really awesome album. Its different, but in a good way. "No More Pain" is by far the best song on the CD. |

| i guess you could call this one of the original emo bands like Alan Cross does on his HOTNM and i'd say that i have to agree with him. It's heartfelt angst from way back in the day when this shit was not even on the radar for people outside of certain scene's. | Embrace is the shit. Buy this now, you Ian MacKaye fanatic. You can argue over whether this is the ‘the first emo-core band’ or you can just buy this and turn it the fuck up. It’s the dudes from Ian’s brother Alec’s old band, The Faith, with Ian singing instead of Alec. I really like the guitars on this. They aren’t your standard Minor Threat sounding guitars etc they are distorted but not heavily. They sound silvery. Very nice. Drumming is somewhat mid-tempo on some stuff but faster on other tracks. So this band was only together for less than a year in 1985-’86. Pre-Fugazi for sure but its damn good. There are actually 16 tracks on this CD, the alternate versions of “Money” and “Dance of Days” which is kinda cool to hear. Comes with lyric book. Clocks in at 39:02. You will notice another subtle difference each time you jam this record. Have Ian’s lyrics ever disappointed you? I think not. How bout his vocals? Nope. This is different than his late '70's early 80's stuff. Perfect. He still writes about his frustration with substances and that is shown a few times on this record. Lyrics from track 7, "No More Pain" like "No more alcohol. Its a Kool Aid substitute. No more heroin. Death is not glamorous" and also from track 9, "Said Gun": "You'd hate yourself if you had the chance. I guess you already do...you fuck yourselves up every night." Who writes such badass shit? That is why you need this.

| Ian McKaye is my savior, not jesus. His lyrics are so personal and tight on this album... among his best. This album literally bridges the gap for him between Minor Threat and Fugazi... and you can see it in his vocal approach and lyrics. Minor Threat he had a very direct lyrical style, mostly screaming (not a bad thing at all), his Fugazi work has more metaphoric lyrics, mostly singing (also not a bad thing) and Embrace is sort of a combination of the two. Plus, the songs are nice and catchy. Pick it up. |

| i bought this a year ago. and regardless, its a great cd. go and buy it as soon as possible. please. one of the best dischord releases, but not the best ian mackaye release. |

| ian mackaye, you like him or your dont, so if you like him then pick this up, not as good as fugazi or minor threat, but more essential than teen idles or egg hunt. i liked it. |

| Ian MacKaye never fails me with whatever music project he does. Embrace is Ian MacKaye on vocals with the rest of the band Faith minus their lead singer, Alec MacKaye (Ian's brother). Very good lyrics. You can tell that there was some deep thought put into the song writing. Ian's vocals are great as always. So clear and you can tell he is absolutely feeling every word he says. A classic album. "Early emocore" as some call it. |

| I like this cd. its not really hardcore. its alot more mellower but its good i love most of the dc music stuff expecialy on dischord. this is a great cd. |

| An Ian Mackaye Band. Thats all there is to it. Over all this cd is good. Remastered by some folks at Dischord (some other studio i guess). The lyrics are good and have clear points (as do all of Ians words). Better than FUGAZI I'd say. If you like this and Fugazi, check out Rites of Spring for the beginings of Guy! |
