| Post DIschord 100, this is probably the best 7" release. And I'm not just saying that because I like the band. This has two amazing songs (X-Polynation and Book Of Flags) which will not leave you disappointed. All fans of this sweetass band will not be disappointed. |

| The latest offering from Dischord’s 21st-century heroes is just about the best thing I’ve heard all year. More akin to the fun-riff colour coding of their first album (No Kill No Beep Beep) rather than the minimalist jazz-rock of their second (Different Damage), this is two of the most perfect songs you will ever hear in your life. It’s also a good one to show friends of yours that don’t listen to much alternative bands, just to see what they make of it:
‘It sounds like The Police..’
‘Is this Devo?’
‘Reminds me of all that eighties shit..’
Ah, the hours of fun to be had at the expense of those less fortunate than you to being alternative and cocky. Side A’s Book Of Flags (the one that Christopher sings) is a lovely little odd-swing number that starts off with some music, then typically turns into some silly QANU trademark noise – here, it sounds like someone using five thimbles on their fingers, making a horse running sound on a cheap Ikea work surface. Then it kicks back into the music and you’re hooked straight away. Don’t worry though – the thimbles return at the end, just to ensure you that they like to have fun! Side B’s X-Polynation (Harris sings this one) is more of a punk, riff-oriented disco blast, and could well be the best sing they have written thus far. The lovely high-pitched vocals on the bridge are just fantastic, and I wanted to hear it again right away just to squeal along.
If this is a taster of their next album, then it will be an absolute blast. Bands like this are too good to exist.
