Level Plane is pleased to collect together the first two CD releases of RAPIDER THAN HORSEPOWER on to one nifty double LP. RAPIDER THAN HORSEPOWER, a four-piece from Bloomington Indiana, combines the influences of Hazel-era RED KRAYOLA, CAPTAIN BEEFHEART and GASTR DEL SOL. The team of Mike Dixon, front man Michael Anderson (RACEBANNON), Sal (RACEBANNON), and Rob Smith are not the typical rock set up.
If you took members of US MAPLE and PAVEMENT, shrunk them into 8 years olds, threw them into a sandbox in the sweltering, humid Indiana summer, and let them simmer for about 5 hours, then finally screamed "ICE CREEEAM!" The sounds you would hear these prepubescent, veteran indie-rockers make would be something like RAPIDER.

| this is the craziest shit anyone will ever hear, take the couple good bands that made 90's indie rock listenable without shaming it with their look and attitude, add very generous parts pere ubu and red krayola (mayo thompson anyone) and then just get even more awesomer, mike dixon and mike anderson are the shit. these songs will forever remain on my playlist, this 2xlp is also their best stuff. sweet deal, get it while you can. and yes, fans of the mai shi might dig this, they did a split with them and toured with them, but the closest the mai shi come to it is with their mix cd (not even their music). |
