"Emergency Numbers" is the second proper full length from Washington D.C.'s Majority Rule and their third release with Magic Bullet. Recorded in snowy isolation in the dead of winter '03 at the Outpost (Stoughton, MA), this finely crafted CD/LP finds Majority Rule exceeding all possible expectations of both themselves and the perception of a modern DIY hardcore band. Where others get "experimental" over time (or simply follow what's hot at the moment), this band is intent on branding and furthering a unique sound that is distinctly Majority Rule.
And they have succeeded: huge production, goosebump-inducing dynamics, and the balanced dual-vocal attack that fans of the band have grown to adore... a record so groundbreaking that the band has already committed the next 7 months of their lives to touring the world in support! | This isn't as good as Interviews, but it's still a classic record. Everything sounds tight on this album. A Prescription kicks everything off for a high-energy blast of passionate fury. The packaging is also sweet. |

| Dudes. Majority Rule is the ultimate in hardcore songwriting. The songs flow so well into the other i dont even consider them songs really. i consider the album an experience. if you like heaviness mixed with unnervingly weird melodic stuff then you will squeal with joy. |

| Please, anyone looking at this item right now, order it as soon as you can. An unbelieveably catchy grindy hardcore masterpiece. But, if you're new to majority rule, I would reccommend interviews with david frost, Both amazing albums. get them both. It's DC's music at its finest. |

| first off, maj rule are an epic lvie act. i've had the pleasure of seeing them 4 times or so as I live outside DC, and these scene stalwarts are great every time. this disc has pretty much the exact same sound as their previous full length, interviews with david frost, and is up to par, but prolly not better than that. 6 songs is kinda short, but they pack in plenty, and several exceed 5 minutes. maj rule has two components: frenetic hardcore and painful-sounding duel screaming, and slow, hypnotic feedback and drum riff bits. a creepy, tense, and thouroughly consuming attitude persists in every song. my only complain is that this album hasnt really matured at all from their previous work beyond better production. there is a short singing bit, and a great instrumental, but both are well within the band's sound spectrum. all in all though, a great disc, with incredible packaging. props to this trio for creating such a heavy, layered sound with only one guitarist, both on disc and live. |
