That dueling duo-- indie heartthrob Ben Gibbard from Death Cab for Cutie and Dntel's Jimmy Tamborello-- have completed work on the debut full-length release from their side project The Postal Service. Much like the songwriting process for Tamborello's other non-Dntel pop project, Figurine, Give Up was created via tape exchanges through this fine nation's potassium iodide-popping U.S. Postal Service. (Hence the name, smart guy.) Jimmy sent rough music tracks to Ben; Ben bounced them right back with raw vocal takes; Jimmy then cleaned any dirty spots and polished as he deemed necessary. In fact, the only time the duo hooked up in person was during the final vocal recordings and mixing phase. The album, titled Give Up, is packed with ten beautifically glitched-out pop dramas.

As if everyone doesn't already know, this is a really good album. I waited far too long to purchase this one due to the fact that I really dislike Death Cab for Cutie mouthpiece Ben Gibbard. He's a fine singer, I just really don't get into music like Death Cab. After much persuasion from a few friends I finally caved and bought this cd, and I can honestly say it is quite good. Some of the lyrics still get a tad emoliscious for my taste, but overall it's an original cd and a good listen.

trippy dance beats accompanied by bens vocals makes this cd irrisistable. its still reasonably close to the top of my 'favourites' pile. get stoned and buy/listen to this now! buy anything by múm too!

11/19/2005 by Jamie from Westwood, MA Rating:
man, Chris has done it again. come out with a fabulous cd, that is. if you're in to Deathcab for Cutie but want a happier, more fun version of it, then buy this cd. it's definately worth every penny, there's not one bad song on the entire disk.

8/23/2005 by Michele from Ft. Collins, CO Rating:
so good to hear it. only good feelings come to me from this album. recycled air can get on my nerves sometimes but other than that, this cd is a masterpiece. ben gibbard, that's all i have to say.

8/15/2005 by Kelley from Apo, AE Rating:
This CD is hella awesome. It is very poppy and fun to listen to. Everyone should buy it-- in fact, buy a few copies so you never have to leave a room without hearing it's sweet sounds in the next.

6/30/2005 by Brian from Troy, NY Rating:
This CD is amazing. There isn't much more to say than that. Do yourself a favor and buy this CD. You definitely won't regret it.

1/12/2005 by Eric from Stein, Netherlands Rating:
the purity and simplicity in the intro of Such Great Heights is unequalled, and the album has lyrics which sound so fresh, as does the music, this is a very accessible album and a must have for every alternative pop music fan.

12/3/2004 by Dan from Shutesbury, MA Rating:
Simply beautiful. Easily one of my favorite cds ever. The songs are so mellow and peaceful that I get a good aura every time I listen to this. This cd helps me fall asleep every time I listen to it. My favorite song is Such Great Heights. A+

9/1/2004 by Justin from Houston, TX Rating:
Beauty is the first word that comes to mind. This album is great; each song takes you on a rollercoaster of emotion and feelings. "Such Great Heights" and "Clark Gable" are my personal favorites. One of the best albums I have purchased in a while.

7/20/2004 by Ben from Hillsborough, NJ Rating:
This is possibly the best CD ever. Buy it now. For fans of basically anything, the techno-esque beats with Death Cab lyrical style and the chick from Rilo Kiley... how the hell can you go wrong? Great from begninng to end, it's a must have.
