Make Sound

Red Scare 113

Released on April 24, 2007

$13.00

After two full lengths, a buncha 7"s, and tours aplenty, these kids are ready to step up their game. The people over at MRR went as far as to call them "Pop punk's current saviors"! For the release of "Make Sound" The Copyrights have a new label, a new studio, and have further perfected their craft. Their last LP, "Mutiny Pop", made everyone's "Best Of" list and got them on tours with bands like Chixdiggit, Groovie Ghoulies, The Ergs, and more. Expect more great songs and great shows from The Copyrights as 2007 is a breakout year for these young dynamos.

This is competent but not interesting at all. There are a few good songs on this, but most of it just kinda sounds the same. No wonder these guys can put out record of record so fast because these songs probably didn’t take more than five minutes to write.

Don’t waste your money on this.

i like the copyrights and this record but they sound like a band that would get played on the radio.

I have read in reviews that people refer to this band as sounding like Dillinger Four a little. There is one song on here called "With The Lights On"? I think it's called that. That is an awesome song. I wish this band would stick to that formula. Good album, but I have certainly heard better.

The Copyrights do it again. I'd say I liked this one a little better than Mutiny Pop. I'd recommend and pretty any of their 3 albums if your into catchy as hell pop punk.

I know for a fact that The Copyrights "Make Sound" will be one of my 10 ten favorite albums of 2007, it's just that damn good. They're not re-inventing the wheel here with their brand of Ramones-core pop-punk but they've surely become expert craftsmen of this sound.

Song after song on here is just insanely catchy, memorable, and fun. The production is loud, full, & exciting. There really isn't much else the band could have done to make this album any better. My favorite tracks include Kids of The Black Hole, Headcount, Knee Deep, The Company, Planet Earth 1994, Stuck In Summertime, and Thinking With The Lights On. But hey, each track is great from start to finish. There's no filler lurking on here.

Overall I'll say that they Copyrights have truly outdone themselves, if you thought "Mutiny Pop" was a classic then "Make Sound" beats it times ten. Oh and kudos to Toby from Red Scare for having such a kick ass record label that puts out great music like this.

Hands down, the best band in pop punk today. The Copyrights just keep getting better and better with every release.

This is a great album. I have a feeling I'll be one of the few to have the opinion that it's a step down from Mutiny Pop, but then again, I have hardly listened to it as much as that record. There are quite a few catchy tunes on here, like Kids of the Black Hole, Pentagram, Planet Earth 1994, and several others. Definately pick this one up, especially if you already have Mutiny Pop.

An amazing release that beat my expectations! Better than Mutiny Pop? Hmm… it would be a tough call that depends on your mood at the time. In general, The Copyrights are an amazing band writing songs that are actually made better with everyone singing along at live shows.

Well, It's a new release off of Red Scare so i bet you can guess what it's like. Yes, it's exactly like Teenage Bottlerocket and The Lillingtons except it's a lot better. All the songs are melodic and very well done. If you're a fan of 3 chord pop-punk lookout records style, then this is for you.

Seriously, I would give this album more than a five if it were possible. The Copyrights last album, "Mutiny Pop", was one of the best pop-punk releases last year and "Make Sound" miraculously manages to blow that release out of the water.

There is simply no band out there today that plays better pop-punk than The Copyrights. From start to finish, there is not one bad song on this CD, and you'll be singing along to half the songs before the album is finished.

Best Tracks on the album: Kids of the Black Hole, Knee Deep, Pentagrams, The Company, Planet Earth 1994, Flat. If you aren't singing along to these songs then you don't have a pulse.

I recommend this CD for fans of bands like: Teenage Bottlerocket, The Lillingtons, The Methadones, and so on...
