Teenage Bottlerocket

Total

Red Scare 103

Released on April 12, 2005

$13.00
$7.99

Top-notch Ramones-core from Wyoming! Hailing from the backwater Cowboy State works to Teenage Bottlerocket's advantage cuz they don't pander to the trends. Instead, they work hard at writing infectious punk tunes with bite. With the recent addition of Kody Lillington on guitar and vocals, these four kids are determined to bring back leather jacket punk rock; and "Total" just might be the record that does it. Their first proper full length offers 13 songs of greatness and is clearly influenced by bands like Riverdales, Green Day, and Screeching Weasel. Somewhere Joey Ramone is smiling...

This album is simply great! Being a fan of Lillingtons, I'm familiar with the sound. The best tracks are easy to point out on this record. "Radio", "So Cool", "Blood Bath at Burger King", "Stupid Games", "Fall For Me" and "So Far Away".

Great album from start to finnish. The only songs I don't care much for are "A Bomb" and "Crashing". The rest is hard not to like.

I never knew of this band till I just did a fresh indie run through here but apparently it has quite the following on interpunk (well there are quite a lot of reviews). This album definitely reminds of a new Ramones record (some of the songs, it almost sounds like Joey helped out with the lyrics and vocal stlyings.) That is a good thing too. Throw in a little Screeching Weasel and this is a fun band to listen to that can be impossible to not sing along with.

Not every song on the album hits quite equally as good as others on the album, but it has enough highlights to keep the fun going and the other songs that don't quite stand out yet could after more listens.

So with Radio, Stupid Games, Lost in Space, Bloodbath at Burger King and So Far Away you will have a good time listening to this.

This cd is amazing. Its all killer no filler a must have. The vocals are amazing catchy Lookout styled punk rock. If you like Screaching Weasel the Queers or Green Day you'll Love this one.

Love this album. Catchy and fun. I really love well done punk so this is great in my opinion. Both singers are excellent and the lyrics are quite clever. My favorite tracks are Stupid Games, Lost In Space, Fall For Me, and Go Away.

wow does this record suck. if you like the Lillingtons as much as i do, save yourself the disappointment. this album is very over-rated and i would strongly tell anyone not to buy it. kory should stick to working with Rawhouser and go back and make the Lillingtons their main project. i only gave it a star cuz i have to give at least one.

I can't believe I bought this garbage. Boring and VERY VERY repetitive. Every track sounds the fucking same.

BORING AND VASTLY OVERRATED!!!!!! Seriously, this is ok, but why is everyone blowing a load over this record. It's what you'd expect from a mediocre pop punk record. You can listen straight through the whole cd. After all, it's kind of hard to make a pop punk song that's unlistenable. But there's nothing special about anything on this cd. Full disclosure: I'm not a huge Lillingtons fan and this is like B-level Lillingtons stuff at the best.

Let me tell you right now, this is one of the best pop-punk albums of today, and is one of the best of all time. Yes, they are (almost) as good as Green Day,Screeching Weasel,The Ramones and The Queers. Teenage Bottlerocket are awesome. All their songs are catchy as hell, and are really fun to listen to. Kody from the Lillingtons makes this record greater than it would be without him,so I thank him for that.

"Bloodbath at Burger King" is a fucking classic song. Its funny, witty and catchy all at the same time. Anyone who doesnt agree is a fucking asshole. "Radio" is a great opening song. Not as good as "Bloodbath", but still better than most "punk" shit these days. "So Cool" and "Stupid Games" are also really really great.

In a nutshell, this is a great record, and Red Scare should be proud that they picked this band up. If you like this, pick up The Riptides "Hang Out", The Methadones "Ill at Ease" and the Lillingtons "Death By Television". Kick ass!

This CD is good. Really good. The music is tight and the lyrics aren't dumb. These guys aren't whiny so most kids won't like this. But if you grew up listening to the Ramones and Screeching Weasel, you will like this. The way Kody and Ray trade off songs is a nice thing as well. Personally, I love Kody's songs. These guys are incredibly tight live, I saw them at The Starlight (RIP) in Ft. Collins and I felt like I was listening to the album but really, really LOUD! Red Scare was smart to put this out.
