Troubled Coast got their start in the East Bay hardcore scene in the shadow of bands like Ceremony
and AFI but have grown into something altogether different. Since their ’09 start, the band has a
released a slew of DIY 7 inches and EP’s, cementing a strong foundation for their first proper LP
release. Awake and Empty is a blend of heavy, almost doomy, guitar and drum-driven music with raw
intense vocals that lends itself to more post hardcore/punk comparisons all while blending more melody
and hooks than their contemporaries. Between the groovy breakdowns, hardcore approach, and catchy
hooks, there is truly something for everyone on this record.
