Frenzal Rhomb

Smoko At The Pet Food Factory

Fat Wreck Chords 779

Released on September 27, 2011

$9.50

Australia’s premiere punk band, FRENZAL RHOMB, have reunited with Fat Wreck Chords for the release their 8th fulllength album, Smoko at the Pet Food Factory. Now, we non- Australians may be a little confused about what the album title means, but we definitely understand the fact that the music is the same balls-to-the-wall, clever, catchy punk rock that FRENZAL RHOMB is famous for (think NOFX sung by Crocodile Dundee). The band has firmly established a controversial reputation over the years (ranging from cover art, song titles and content, behavior on-and off-stage, and their association with radical politics) and the content on Smoko at the Pet Food Factory is yet another rung on Frenzal’s illustrious ladder. Sonically speaking, the 16 tracks on Smoko are absolutely incredible. This is due in no small part to the fact that famed Descendents drummer Bill Stevenson both produced and recorded the album at the Blasting Room (Rise Against, NOFX, Flogging Molly, Train). With songs topics covering cockroaches, goths, racists, rapists , and Karl Alvarez , it’s clear that FRENZAL have not lost their knack for twisting even the most obscure subject matter into loud, addictively melodic punk rock. Having recently shared the stage with the likes of NOFX, Descendents, and Dropkick Murphys, the boys in FRENZAL RHOMB are primed to bring their wildly entertaining live show to the masses in support of Smoko at the Pet Food Factory.

Well i'm a BIG fan of FR so it's hard for me to say that I didn't like this CD but after Forever Malcolm Young and Sans souci its hard to do better. Smoko at the pet food factory is good there's a lot a great song but there's also some that for shouldn't have made the cut. But like I said I'm a huge fan of FR so i can't say that those song are bad.( My dearest friend, Snouts in the trough, WMBSAMIGTR ) The rest of the album is fucken great ( 5000 cigarettes, Knuckleheads, Edward sausage fangs, dead celebrity but Hungry Jacks carprak is my fav. ) In general a great CD but less than Forever Malcolm Young. Frenzal Rhomb Fucken rules !!!!! ( Sorry for my english i'm a french canadien )
