World/Inferno Friend

Anarchy & The Ecstasy

Chunksaah 46

Released on March 15, 2011

$15.25

The newest collection of orchestral rants from the world's premier gang of anarchist glamour ghouls! With a full horn section, baby grand piano, punk guitar, 5-string bass, and dueling male/female vocals - the freedom fightin’, punk-as-world-music cult that is THE WORLD/INFERNO FRIENDSHIP SOCIETY channels Phillip K. Dick, Kurt Weill, and Jonathan Richman on their 13th release, The Anarchy and The Ecstasy. Pushing boundaries, grudges, genres, heartstrings, and parole conditions from the cow-punk thump of "Disarming Smile" to the heartbreaking samba of "13 Years Without Peter King", The Anarchy and The Ecstasy shows THE WORLD/INFERNO FRIENDSHIP SOCIETY with a refined songwriting style and virtuosic playing ability... plus the attitude you've come to expect in "I Am Sick of People Being Sick of My Shit"!

WIFS gets better and better with each release. This time around, the songs are more piano and horn driven, with more lead vocals from Sandra; Jack plays guitar sparsely, giving a few songs a Sticks & Stones shadowing, but amped up by the punk orchestral arrangements, every song has nuances that are hidden until repeated listens have you discovering everything the band has tucked away into the album. "The Apple Was Eve" and "13 Years Without Peter King" are my favorites, but, in all honesty, if you have any of their other albums, you'll love every song on this one, just as much as you do with everything else they have done.
