Wonderful, the fourth studio album from Circle Jerks, still reigns as one of the
band’s most popular records. Veering in a more mid-tempo direction, the album
was a change of pace from the band’s first records, which had a more hardcore
punk rock sound. New members Zander Schloss and Keith Clark were added to
the fold, making their debut as a hard-hitting rhythm section. The Jerks’ trademark
sense of humor is still on display, as witnessed by one of the record’s most popular
tracks, “American Heavy Metal Weekend.” But the record also contains hard-hitting
commentary topical in the ’80s, like “Making the Bombs” and “Killing for Jesus.”
