LaGrecia

On Parallels

(Kid Dynamite, None More Black)

Suburban Home 70

Released on June 24, 2008

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

An extremely limited pressing, this is Jason Shevchuck of Kid Dynamite and None More Black fame's latest project. Though LaGrecia has parted ways this is one of the most incredible works of Jason's talent.

This CD sounds like None More Black with some mid western grit. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes None More Black or any other of Jason Shevchuck's other bands. Could be mistaken as a new NMB album.

Another great album from Jason "however the hell you say his last time". You know, the guy that starts a new band, delivers a great album and quits the band. Yeah that dude! This is really good stuff. The music is complex without sounding snobbish. Jason delivers a wide range on his vocals too on this disc and that is what I'm most impressed by.

what else can i say besides it's jason shevchuk. i have yet to be disappointed by anything he has done. although this album loses some of the bite present in none more black and kid dynamite (especially kid dynamite), it is still worth purchasing.

Top notch disc. how could you expect anything less from JAY FREAKING SHEVCHUK!!!! DOn't know y they are called La Grecia this is really NONe more blacks 4th album!!! fans of NMB but more so the "this is a satire" stuff will love this cd....it's the culmination of the sound Jay was heading for with NMB and if you really listen carefully "this is a satire" is a transition cd over to this sound from the fast paced file under black. I think file under black is the best disc.

Being a serious fan of Kid Dynamite and None More Black, i just had to get this album. All of the songs are catchy and very well written. If you like any of jason shevchuks bands then you should most definitely buy this. A song worth mentioning is Slow As Manasses. Real solid song there..

This album WILL blow you away. It might take a few spins, but eventually your ass will be on the fuckin' ground.

This definitely IS some of Jason's best work, right behind "This Is Satire". Really sucks that we only get 11 songs out of the band, but they're 11 absolute-magnificent songs.

Without a friggin doubt, this album will be my pick for "Album Of The Year". I know nothing else will come out in the next 6 months that will top this... not even close.

When Jason Shevchuk is involved in an album you have high expectations. And why shouldn’t you? The frontman from Kid Dynamite and None More Black seem to do no wrong.

You know what to expect from this album. Clever riffs, good melodies and a lot of “whoas”. It’s all there. But this just isn’t any of Shevchuk’s best work. It’s good, but not in any sense better than his previous records. The melodies aren’t that memorable and for some reason the sound quality is quite bad. Soundwise this feels somewhat like a demo.

But don’t get me wrong. This is a pretty solid album. And there are some highlights. Opening track “Hey Medic” is great. “Slower Than Manasses” is really good, although I was already tired of this song before the album came out because it was released for free on LaGrecia’s myspace spage. The same thing can be said about “You Like Baseball, I Like Ghosts”. “Two Shotguns” with its driving baseline and “My Lightning” are two other standout tracks.

Definitely worth buying but it probably won’t blow you away.
