I'm not a huge screamo/emo fan, but I am a huge fan of Emery's "The Question" album. This doesn't come close to that. It's not that it sucks, but it's only ok, not great. There are only single guitar tracks, unlike previous albums of a few. This way it is easier to play live I guess, but it just doesn't have that excitement anymore. Don't get me wrong, these guys are really original, especially for such a generic genre. If you're a big Emery fan, I suppose you should get it, but if you're anything less, don't waste your money. Buy "The Question" first.

Overall I was disappointed. Emery is still a great band but when I heard them say this is our hardest and softest cd yet I was expecting just that. Instead I don't really hear the "hard" part in it. It doesn't suck but if you liked Weak's End and The Question I wouldn't suggest it, on the other hand, if you like rock music in general then why not give it a shot. BUT WAIT !!!! The acoustic show that comes with the DVD is nothing short of amazing, so I guess just for the DVD it's worth buying. Oh and the Emery guys are really good guys too.

Emery is one of my favorite bands but having said that this CD isn't their best effort. I wonder what would have come about if they had picked up a bassist instead of switching of the duties between Toby and Devin. I think they were stronger with two guitarists. The DVD is awesome. Watching interviews and live shows remind me of how amazing this band is and how incredibly nice each member is. All in all the CD/DVD package is a good one.

Not a huge fan of Emery but I must say I was impressed with this release for sure. The last song on the CD " From Crib To Coffin" is absolutely amazing. I also enjoyed the DVD, it has great live performances and a great acoustic set.

I was a big fan of Emery just after listening to their first CD, but everything I liked about that CD started to fade away in their second disc and is almost completley gone in Im Only A Man, their third offering. Gone are interesting musical breakdowns, passionate lyrics, intensity, and feeling. Now what you get are decent pop songs with a minimal ammount of edge about common subjects that everyone writes about ... in fact I think the singer says in one song "here we are two teenagers contemplating all high school had shown us" The singer looks like he's 30, he should not be singing about high school drama because it just reeks of selling himself to a singular market. At its best this CD is an okay listen and Emery evolving in the wrong direction.

Very good. Emery have matured musically and lyrically. Most poppy, dancey, and darkest albulm lyrically. Awesome hooks and choruses that'll get stuck in your head. The special edition is definately a goer, with wo whole live shows of footage plus a doco about the making of Im only a man. 4.5 stars outaa 5
