Holding a Wolf by The Ears, From Autumn to Ashes’ fourth studio album, finds the band playing with a level of passion and intensity not seen since their 2001 debut, Too Bad You’re Beautiful. The most recognizable sign of this reinvention is Mark’s recent shift from drummer and vocalist to full-time vocalist, a result of the departure of former lead singer Benjamin Perri.

Over the course of the album’s 12 tracks, it becomes clear that for the band, more has changed than just a voice. Fans will still find the searing guitars and bone-crunching rhythms, but there’s a new duality – a much heavier sound buoyed by the focused melodies that introduce the listener to Francis Mark’s surprisingly dynamic vocal range.

This is a good CD! If you like the bands other records, you'll like this one. I think their best album is "The Fiction We Live," so if you're new to the band, I'd start there.

10/8/2007 by Philip from Silver Spring, MD Rating:
This is definelty one of their best cds since To Bad You're Beautiful came out. Its a little different without Ben Perri singing but is still just as heavy as before.

I am a big fan and this album does meet the demand. It hits hard and sells itself. Better than the last album, Abandon Your Friends, even though I liked the soft approach to that album. This album is not as good than Too Bad Your Beautiful, but better than the Fiction We Live. This is what From The Fiction We Live should Have sounded like. I am still giving this album a 5 because it worth banging my head to while driving my car or going to the gym working out.

this is there best cd yet it so great I can't stop listing to it but for any fan of FATA that into them and u want here the new cd is worth it, I think it there best cd they have done so far.

5/15/2007 by Tim from Milton, ON Canada Rating:
After the dissapointment (to the band and their fans) of abandon your friends (not that it was bad, just uninspired) From Autumn to Ashes went back to the studio to record a new album that would blow abandon your friends away.

and they did. Fran Mark steps effortlessly into the front man position filling the void left by Ben Perri (The screamer on the other albums) the result is a very fresh From Autumn to Ashes and a recharge in passion and inspiration. This CD is amazing, even if you loved Ben Perri or the old From Autumn to Ashes, the new From Autumn to Ashes reminds you why you started liking the band in the first place ... they make inspired, passionate, honest music that covers a number of topics.

4/12/2007 by Christopher from Quarryville, PA Rating:
Now I was a FATA listener before but now I’m a full blown fan!!! The band sounds greater than ever with Francis Mark’s vocals leading the way. And his lyrics are incredibly smart and well written. Everything about this album is perfect; it’s like holding a wolf by the ears once you grab on you can’t let go

4/10/2007 by Chris from Bountiful, UT Rating:
Wow, just wow. This cd blew me away. Before this I was only a fan of The Fiction We Live. Then I gave the other two some more spins and started liking them as well. I was worried about the drummer moving up and doing head vocals but its nothing to worry about. The songs are the heaviest, most well written and by far the best FATA cd to date. Bravo
