| Leftover Crack/Citizen Fish - Deadline Split |
Two and a half years after the genre-defining (and over 20,000 selling) Fuck World Trade on Alternative Tentacles, Leftover Crack returns to the fold, this time teaming up with UK ska-punk legends Citizen Fish on the split LP 'Deadline'. Having released a split 7 inch in late 2006, the two bands decided to stick with the theme and record an entire full length album worth of material. 'Deadline' features 5 brand new tracks from Citizen Fish and 6 from Leftover Crack. In addition to the new tracks each band saw fit to cover the other band's material so Citizen Fish covers both Leftover Crack and Choking Victim, while Leftover Crack does covers of both Citizen Fish and Subhumans! One of the most anticipated split releases of the new year!

| Got this when it came out, after I had already downloaded all the tracks so I kinda knew what I was getting myself into. The Citizen Fish side is perfect, if you're a fan of theirs you'll have no complaints on their side. The Leftover Crack side is a bit different. The first thing I notice with this release is how it's over produced, as in most Fat Wreck material. Also WW4, which most people dislike, it says in the liner notes was a pre-arranged song from Ezra & Morning Glory...that being said it definitely would have done better as a MG song but oh well. It's not Mediocre Generica or anything like Choking Victim but if you liked Fuck World Trade I don't see why you wouldn't like the LoC side of this. I definitely dug it tho. |

| The split is alright with a few major annoyances. The Citizen Fish side was pretty good. Leftover Crack has thoughtless, simplistic lyrics. You can guess what one line will rhyme with the first time you listen to it. Also, "If your neighbors keep you up at night then talk to them, don't start a fight!" is a terrible lyric and also common sense. You don't have to write that, we know it already.
The cover songs are really cool though. |
