first, the album is worth buying merely for the vocals. sounding like a cross between bearvsshark's marc paffi and pedro the lion's david bazan, the band's lead vocalist gives a superb performance. although lyrics lack ingenuity in spots and some of the songs hooks are not the catchiest, his range is spectacular. don't get me wrong-the intrumentation does a fantastic job of backing him up, with appleseed cast thickness and layering, and a poppy melodic groove characteristic of more mainstream artists like the fray. a great 50 minutes of music. |
