You're still crying over the break up of At The Drive-In? Still? Wait, you never heard of them? Well they split into two camps The Mars Volta, who went for a more "artistic" approach, (kind of like Yes, and King Crimson) and Sparta went for a more straight ahead sound. Porcelian, their 2nd full length cd, is a 14 song disc that floats along like an atmospheric trip. Great guitar work, and catchy sing alongs. Think of Jawbox and early U2.

Pretty weak cd. i listened to wiretap scars constantly for months but this album was pretty forgetable. has a couple of decent songs on it though

2/19/2005 by Matt from Mt. Martha, Australia Rating:
sparta's such a good band. there not as good as the mars volta but fantastic all the same. this cd is better than wire-tap scares but perhaps u should buy that one first.

You knew it would be good. But not this good. This is amazing which is all you should expect from Sparta. It does sound different from At the Drive In,but if your a fan check it out along with The Mars Volta.I personally favor this over Wiretap Scars though that one is very good as well. And of course get some ATDI 'cause thats how it all started.

8/1/2004 by Nicholas from Apo, AE Rating:
wire taps was so tight to me, but it got a lot of shit! this album is sweet and really awesome, just read the lyrics and you'll see that jim ward has opened up like a blossiming flower. atdi's break up was tragic, but now we have two great bands from it. do your self a favor go buy this cd now!

7/29/2004 by Lars from Oslo, Norway Rating:
I'm kinda disappointed about this album. I guess it's ok, but I was expecting alot more from these guys. Wiretap Scars is such an amazing record with a very uniqe sound and variety, filled with songs that get stuck in your head. I think Porcelain lacks that uniqeness and variety. The songs sound very similar and no track really sticks out on this release. Well, maybe it'll grow on me after a while.. I hope so

7/15/2004 by Jeremy from Manassas, VA Rating:
Fucking splendid. Not as hooky as wiretap, but equally good in a parallel way. The space rock format is still there, but, on this one, they stretch the songs out and force the listener to bring more attention to the lyrics, which are about heartache, marriage, psychological damage, etc. The drumming on this record is tight all around and the guitars are rhythymic without trying to embrace pop as much as songs from wiretap did. With a few listens, this little fucker won't leave your cd player for days. It's still in mine..........
