Denver, Colorado’s PLANES burn off the fuel of their past in a white hot fury! "Up in Them Guts" is huge, compelling, and immediate. PLANES have taken their exploration further, darker, and harder, while remaining unflinchingly honest. Twin guitars peel off shards of sound, devilish and bold. Inebriated on heat and sweat, this is rockandfuckingroll in a pure sense, distilled from equal parts wonder and apprehension. No pasteurization. No punches pulled. There is soul lurking in the din. While each element has precision, you can still feel the "ghosts" in the recording, the spirit and passion running underneath and between the notes. This force and clarity is due in part to the expert ears of AJ Mogis at Presto Studios, Lincoln NE (Cursive, Bright Eyes, Get Up Kids).

Now this is music. Just real and from the heart. Pure Intensity. Pure rock. From the acoustic intro that sets everything up perfectly. They can switch from insanity to serene and beautiful, but this is still a rock album. The vocals are dirty and disturbing, and work so well with pounding drums and guitars. I don't think i can do this cd justice with words. Nobody can. Just top quality. Also a great live show. Big hairy, sweaty guys playing all out rock. Amazing. Highest recommendations.

This CD really put Planes Mistaken for Stars on my list of great bands. I saw them live in fall 2003 and really liked there style and sound, but there earlier releases weren't doing them justice. But "Up In Then Guts" makes up for all of them. This CD really is worth the 15 bucks!!!

7/15/2005 by Doug from Watertown, NY Rating:
It seems to me that this band only gets better with every release and this definitly applies to planes' latest release. A much more focused album, they seem to take their brute sludgy force and combine it with their long forgotten melodical abilities that took place on their first few realses. This is a must for any fan of the band and anyone who can appreciate a rockin good time.

5/27/2005 by C. Robinson from Ft. Mitchell, KY Rating:
What's missing in punk music, Planes Mistaken For Stars has. But what they won't do is slip into any pigeonhole. Hard, fast, smooth, scathing, breath-taking and that is just within the first couple songs off Up In Them Guts. First you must experience Fuck With Fire, then Up In Them Guts proves that Planes are one of the best bands going right now.

There is a reason that PMFS is my favorite band. Reason # 200999.....this cd. If you are a fan of this band I need not say anymore.

This is a great CD. You are missing out if you don't have this already. Buy it right now! You won't be sorry.

11/12/2004 by Russell from Houston, TX Rating:
ive been a fan of pmfs for quite some time now. and up in them guts has fully lived up to my expectations. sure its a little more produced but they still contain there singnature raw sound. this is in your face pure evil rock and roll. they are not for everyone but if you like bands like leatherface, small brown bike, old hot water music, and lock and key you should add planes mistaken for stars to ur roster. this is one of my favorite cds of the year and i would put up in them guts right up there with f.ck with fire!

11/9/2004 by Brian from Fresno, CA Rating:
This record is tough as hell. This record has the fury!!! The artwork is wicked as well. Good job on this one..

9/14/2004 by Michael from Dover, DE Rating:

8/28/2004 by Tim from Beavercreek, OH Rating:
What can I say? Another great CD from Planes Mistaken for Stars. It even came with a free poster and button since I preordered it. I only wish some of the songs were longer, but that doesn't detract from the score because its such a great CD.
