| Converge - No Heroes |
Since breaking out of the hardcore pack with the savage onslaught of 2001’s Jane Doe, Converge have been the band to watch, pacesetters who have consistently set the next creative level in aggressive music; their Epitaph debut You Fail Me was named one of 2004’s 10 essential releases in Alternative Press. | Awesome album, and very Converge. That's the best way to put it, as Converge really are a one of a kind band. Unlike most people though, I can't really get into the longer, slower songs as much as the faster ones, which is why I give this a mere 4. But that's a 4 on the Converge-scale, which is still a hell of a lot better than most metalcore bands of today could ever get. |

| Dare I say their first good album since The Poacher Diaries? I'm just one of the few who doesn't appreciate Converge doing the same noisy lo-fi mic-dangling-from-the-ceiling indie-rock thing every other band is turning to (after coming from a very unique past). They did great hardcore-thrash crossover back in the day. No Heroes returns to that blatant passion, with non-stop intensity and energy. First album with double bass in a long fucking time. The slow songs are actually twisting and interesting as opposed to ambient noise a first in their history). The recording quality is probably the first thing Kurt Ballou has made to sound decent since Endnote by The Hope Conspiracy (as his sound dwindled from abrasive, yet hi-fi toneful recordings, to just raw, home-studio sounds). The riffs almost never let up. Jacob screams as gnarly as ever. This is the first time I've found Ben's drumming ear-catching and actually a match to the riffs. Nate's bass tone is god-awful, but his performance is top notch. But as I said, this is the best Converge has sounded since before Jane Doe. I still don't have the same interest in Converge as I did before the Jane Doe style change, but I think this is a serious step back in the right direction. |

| Very powerful album. The first half knocks you down without mercy. The second keeps you there with strong drawn out songs that make you glad they took on such ambitious sounds. This contains all of the brutality you have come to love from Converge. Great guitar work and even more amazing drumming. One of the best hardcore records this year. No reason not to buy this as soon as possible. |

| No Heroes. I wasn't sure what to think when I had first heard this CD. It was a aural mindfuck, to say the least. After a few subsequent listens, I decided that I really liked this CD. If you're into Converge, you should pick this up, you won't be disappointed. If you're not too familiar with hardcore, and aren't into crazy screaming, this may not be for you. This is one of my favorite records of the year. |

| Good stuff....I own every Converge CD they have put out thus far and I was super excited to hear this one! Many of the songs are a bit short, I think one is about 30 seconds even.....but they are all AWESOME!
If you like Converge, you wont be disappointed. If you dont like Converge, then buy this CD anyways cause IT IS AWESOME! |

| What a great album. Why is everyone knocking you fail me though? Jane Doe isn't THAT much better, the main difference being Jane Doe has more cock-rock guitar and whiny vocals |

| Are you kidding??????? If you're new to this band, then you have a lot of learning to do and some CD's to buy, if your a longtime fan, then nothing needs to be said, because you already know. Excellent. Amazing. Raw. Stop reading these and buy it!!! |

| this album is a huge step up from you fail me. where you fail me was really good and catchy, no heroes is more intricate, raw, and more sophisticated on every plain. im very pleased that they steared clear of using to many breakdowns(there really aren't any on no heroes, which for me is huge plus)
while im not quite ready to say whether this is better then jane doe, i will say it surpasses everything they've put out before with detail and musicianship. best album of the year in my opinion, and maybe even next year as well. |

| Woooooo!!!!! Converge is fucking back!!!!! After being so thouroughly disappointed with "You Fail Me" I was worried that Converge was on the slow and steady decline into hardcore folklore. Then this circular slab of pure plastic gold showed up on my doorstep. The thing I love most about this album are the new production values. Converge has always been heavy, but now they sound FUCKING HEAVY. It's not as ear piercing as their last albums. It's brutal, but warm at the same time and not nearly as abrasive. I know that's what some people really love about Converge, but this one just envelops me so much more. There's also a really good flow from song to song, so much so that the album, for the most part, almost sounds like one long, constantly changing song. The riffs are great and memorable and the shifting rythms are perfectly placed and never fuck with the flow of the songs. 5 stars, 5 stars, 5 stars. Buy, buy, buy. |
