ROCKET FROM THE CRYPT'S Circa Now! was first unleashed on the public circa 1993. The bands sophomore outing was a culmination of post-hardcore delineations, recent affections for pre-punk and punk forefathers, and blasting baritone skronk glazing over a twin guitar assault. Constant touring, lots of media coverage, college and commercial radio play and even support from MTV (back when they played videos) of both the "Ditchdigger" and "Sturdy Wrists" videos as well as on air interviews and live performances, made Circa Now! one of the most recognizable records in the ROCKET FROM THE CRYPT catalogue. Swami head honcho overlord maximus has wrangled this gem from the powers that be and resuscitated this release with improved vigor. This reissue of Circa Now! boasts improved mastering off of the 1/4 inch transfers, packaging with more photos of the band during this era, and 4 more songs that were not included on the original release and have never been issued until now. For those who prefer the prepubescent inclinations of ROCKET, this is the album that speaks to them. At this point, ROCKET was mostly taking their cues from THE SAINTS' Eternally Yours, THE RAMONES' End of the Century and Live and Let Die era WINGS. The addition of 4 unreleased tracks makes this essential for even those who own the original to take another look at what was a major development in the history of ROCKET FROM THE CRYPT.

Classic CD with bonus tracks. How can you go wrong with that. If you read this months Alternative Press, you may have seen the long article they had about Rocket From The Crypt. Afer reading that, it dredged up all these old memories I had of the band and this record. So I had to get it again and I'm thrilled that it has four bonus tracks on it. Great band, great record, great run!

6/21/2005 by Lionel from Sydney, Australia Rating:
I got into The Crypt in the later stages of my teens/early 20's, as my prior musical tastes were dictated on how "punk" they were...how lost i was. I am now in good company with bands like Hot Snakes, Big Black and RFTC. Over the past two years I've purchased 6 RFTC albums, they are one amzing and livewire explosive band. The defiant stance against the forces that bring us down is astonishing. My purchasing of RFTC albums have been some-what all over the place, and as a result out of context. This album isn't their best but it shows the sparks of a band ready to ignite. Short Lip Fuser kicks ass straight off. But for stronger releases try Scream, Dracula..or RFTC..or Groupsounds. I give it 3 and 1/2.
