Early November

The Mother, The Mechanic, And The Path

Drive-Thru 6076836302

Released on July 11, 2006

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

This triple disc release, which contains all new material, is the carefully thought out endeavor of Early November front man Ace Enders and band mates Jeff Kummer (drums), Sergio Anello (bass), Joe Marro (guitar), and Bill Lugg (guitar). The Mechanic disc highlights the group’s heavier rock sound while The Mother leans towards the acoustic with hints country and blues. The Path is a soundtrack complete with dialogue and characters both of which intermingle amongst the first two CDs, thus tying the three discs together.

I agree with our friend with Ohio that this is a bit of a cliche, but it's an album with a story to tell. I personally enjoyed The Mechanic disk the most, and listened to Money In His Hand over and over again. Do yourself a favor; if you get this album, which would not be a bad idea, sit yourself down and dedicate yourself to relaxing and listening to the whole thing beginning to end. Not all of the songs are amazing, but I think the overall package really is. I listened to it from beginning to end and I think that is the only TO listen to it, really. If you're looking to take a trip without leaving your house, pick up this great release from The Early November.

I wasn't sure if I would like this CD when I bought and I'm sure a lot of people felt the same way. But, after listening to each CD I fell in love with it. Don't be scared away by any of the opening tracks (which often don't depict Ace's voice at its best). I loved "The Path" which felt like a Broadway musical all the way through. The other two CDs feel a bit more like standard TEN, but still bring something new and fresh to the table. In an age where everything sounds the same, this CD is worth a listen just to feel the refreshing hope that people are still out there experimenting with music and trying to develop as artists. And the story/plot behind the concept album, while a bit cliche' on the surface, actually has some deeper substance to it. It's really powerful to listen to "The Path" with headphones. So good sometimes it gives you goosebumps. Buy this CD!
