Decemberunderground

Interscope B000685402

Released on June 6, 2006

$12.25

"I flee to decemberunderground. As you exhale, I breathe in the water underground and I'll grow pale without you"-"The Interview," AFI

"DECEMBERUNDERGROUND is a time and a place. It is where the cold can huddle together in darkness and isolation. It is a community of those detached and disillusioned who flee to love, like winter, in the recesses below the rest of the world."-Davey Havok

DECEMBERUNDERGROUND is also the title of AFI's seventh album. And like much of the record's lyrical and visual imagery, it seems to stand in stark contrast to the name behind the band's world-renowned moniker: A Fire Inside.  Then again, the brightest flames burn white-they just don't burn bright for long.

Great CD, if your an afi fan this is a must have. Every song on this album is a must have. Different from their earlier stuff but still great.

This is a good album...do not get me wrong, but this is NOT an AFI album. I think Davey and the boys should have put this under a different name. This is what happens when a solid band gets on a major label and the label dictates how they want the music to go. Still...I really like it...but just not as an AFI album.

So different from what AFI used to do, yet it's a very solid release. Davey's voice is lower sometimes, and his screaming has changed a little, but one gets used to it very easily.

Lyrically, the album is extraordinary. Nothing more to say about the subject.

My favorite songs are "Prelude", "Kill Caustic", "Kiss and Control", and "Endlessly, she said".

I give it a 5 without a doubt.

It took awhile for me to get into this album, but I now enjoy it. It may be different from their older stuff, which is my fav., but I still think the songs are good. If you don't have an open mind towards music, don't get this album.

Good jams. Not AFI's best in my opinion but the band itself is headed in a new creative so what can be expected? There are some great songs on here, Davey Havok rules, so all the lyrics are incredible. If you are already a fan of AFI then you should pick this up anyway; but you should especially grab a copy if you liked "Sing the Sorrow" released by AFI in 2003. This record includes Miss Murder, Kill Caustic, and Love Like Winter (my favorite). Overall it's a 4, which is great, I generally don't give 5's so this is a good record. I like it a little better then Sing The Sorrow, but both are great purchases. CRANK IT UP!

Once again, another gem from AFI. It's definitely different than previous AFI albums, but I would say it is most comparable to Sing the Sorrow. There are uses of drum machines and beats in a few of the songs. A few are quite catchy and poppy with what I would say has an 80s feel to it. Give it a couple listens through before passing judgment. If you have preconceived notions of what you think it will sound like, you may get too wrapped around what you expect vice what you get. Great album.

Wow, I can't believe how much this thing sucks. AFI officially became mainstream whores with this pile of crap. I'm not even considering this as an Emo cd, this is much worse than that. They should have changed their name in the process. The fact that this is the same band that gave us Black sails in the Sunset is just behond comprehension. Don't touch it, it'll burn your soul.

AFI is my favorite band. The Art of Drowning changed my life and remains my favorite cd by them because of that fact. I, like many of their loyal fans, have been discouraged by their rise to stardom. Don't let their popularity sway you though, this record is by far one of their greatest. I would say that it's a close second behind The Art of Drowning. If you are the type to be disappointed by change then you might not approve of their new songs. But if you want an amazing album that effortlessly mixes the best of rock, pop, punk, and hardcore then I highly suggest that you get Decemberunderground.

I don't care what anyone says about AFI's new material.I think this ablum is awesome.Sure, they've slowed their pace down and they've softened up a bit,but every band has to grow and change. This change is just where AFI have always been heading. It's a huge step up from "Sing the Sorrow."Not many could deny that this is a good album. The singing is top notch. The lyrics are good. The music is what makes the album. And I like the little techno parts that are added.Every song on this album are great. The stand out tracks for me are "Kill Caustic","Summer Shudder","The Killing Lights" and "37mm."People that were new to AFI with the release of "Sing the Sorrow" got the wrong impression I think. If you're new to AFI,you should try "Black Sails in the Sunset,my personal favorite of AFI's.Or "The Art of Drowning."But,if you're an old fan definatly buy this album.

I'm sorry Davey, but you let me down. I'll have to admit that "Miss Murder" is a catchy song, even if it sounds like someone is trying to bank on Green Days recent sound. I even like a couple other songs on the cd. But I am not going to get tricked into buying a whiney, "cut yourself to fit in", emo album.

I want an energetic, fast-paced, AFI album. Catchy lyrics, some screaming, and for crying out no rabbits! Every other AFI cd had awesome cover art, this one has a ring of bunnies. Over 100 songs written and these are the best?!
