There is something about the NYC metro area that makes it a compass for the future of music, and GRACER
has put themselves on that map. GRACER fuses a forward moving rock edge with the melancholy overtones
of mid-90's emo -somewhere between SUNNY DAY REAL ESTATE and ELLIOTT. Voices Travel, however, does
not follow the course of blending influences and building on an already well beaten path: GRACER set out
to create their own distinct sound.
With former members of Long Island bands ON THE MIGHT OF PRINCES (RevelationRecords) and LUX
COURAGEOUS (Triple Crown Records), GRACER's ambition is driven by elements of these projects. Both of
those bands had their visions of rock - OTMOP playing full throttle on an aggressive, post hardcore tip, while
LUX dabbled more into the acoustic sound. This trio comes together to paint a wall of sounds, mixing such
indie classics as TEXAS IS THE REASON, BRAND NEW and SENSE FIELD with a modern spin and innovative
focus. Spacey guitars, a driving but muted bass line, and hard-edged, precise drumming bring it all together,
complemented by soothing lead vocals that draw favorable comparisons to Jonathan Bunch (SENSE FIELD,
FURTHER SEEMS FOREVER).
Voices Travel was recorded at The Funeral Home in Louisville, KY. This is not a clever name, but a recording
studio located over a functioning mortuary. Producer Kevin Ratterman (ELLIOTT composer/drummer) recorded
this, his latest in a long string of endeavors at the ominous Funeral Home, having previously recorded
ELLIOTT, THE RISE, FOLLOW THE TRAIN, CABIN, BREATHER RESIST, SELUAH, and BLACK CROSS. Voices
Travel is certain to prompt listeners to turn up their stereos for those late night drives.
