| Koffin Kats - Straying From The Pack |
The Koffin Kats are HairBall8 Records' best selling artist for a reason. These three Motor City madmen know the value of touring and also happen to write the songs that make the guys slam dance and the girls lose their underpants. On this, the band's 3rd album, the Koffin Kats have once again stepped it up a couple notches on the songwriting, arrangement and overall production value. With a new drummer in effect who simply goes by the name Catcher, it is apparent that the Koffin Kats are a tighter unit than ever. On Straying From The Pack, the Detroit trio dives deeper into rich melodies and vocal harmonization. Tommy Koffin's buzz saw guitar tone has finally been maximized and the upright bass slapping is thicker and quicker than a charging locomotive. Vic Victor's vocal range continues to defy earthly restrictions as he wails, howls and croons like a demented mix of Elvis Presley, Dave Vanian, and Glen Danzig. Razor-sharp, wicked lyrics permeate these soon to be classic Kats tunes!

| This is a pretty solid Psychobilly album for the short running time (around 16 minutes). although, since this is the Koffin Kats they made it worth it. it is though, a little dissapointing for a Koffin Kats album compared to the first two.. right when the album gets really good, (the last two songs are two of their all time best), it ends.
Buzzkill Bitch is a really good tempo switching ballad. and For Hire has amazing guitar, bass, drums, vocal melodys, and everything. another thing i love about the last track is how they bring back the vocal melody from the first track to finish off the album, clever. |

| this new koffin kats release is ok. not as good as the last 2 albums. 2 or 3 songs are really good. but the recording just isnt that great for their sound. so id give this a 3 at best. |
