| Saves The Day - Sound The Alarm |
There are few bands today that can lay claim to helping break a new style of music the way Saves the Day did years ago. After a brief stint with a major label, the band is back on Vagrant Records. Also back on “Sound the Alarm” is the classic Saves the Day sound with all the revved up tempos and catchy melodies Saves the Day fans have grown accustomed to throughout the years.

| If you're an early Saves The Day fan, i guess this record will make you happy. The pop-punk speed melodies and catchy song-writing is back! But the fact is that i'm NOT an early fan. My favorite records by them are "Stay what you are" and "In reverie". The musical evolution of the band has always been natural, until this "Sound the alarm", which, in my opinion, is more something to make the fans coming back than anything sincere. If your fans don't love what you want to do anymore, so screw them! Or change the name of the band, or stop or whatever. But this move backward is really stupid. Ok, the songs are still catchy, but far from being as memorable and anthemic than anything on "SWYA" or "Through being cool", and farther than being as well-built and beautiful than on "In reverie". With this record, each and every magazine and fan said "Saves The Day is back!". I say "Saves The Day is gone". |

| To be honest it took a while since I received it and took it in.....i'm stokked its the opposite direction where In Reverie was taking them....they went back to their Through being Cool, a little Can't Slow Down mixed w/ Stay what you are......overall a great sound...new line-up...chris is on guitar and his vocals have matured , though a little more whiny but passionate....i give it a 4 out of 5 for a kick ass comeback effort! Enjoy........ |

| A solid album and a good try to return to their roots. The lyrics and vocals are not the best but altogether a great sound for STD peeps. |

| Saves The Day are back on Vagrant!!!! This is their first effort since rejoining the label that put them on the map, and I have some mixed feelings. The good news is this is no "In Reverie". You can now officially forget about that disaster of an album. The bad news....it's nowhere near as good as "Stay What You Are" or "Through Being Cool". While the music is kickin', in fact alot of guitar work is similar to what's on SWYA, the vocals are.....different. The songs definately suffer from the vocals, as well as a lack of real hooks. A definate improvement from "In Reverie", but still nothing to write home about. |

| What the hell happened to Conley’s voice? Not since Wheatus have I heard a voice so terrifying that I wanted to jump out of the nearest window. I almost miss the boring Saves The Day years, at least then he had a almost normal voice. This cd is good, so good that it almost makes me forget about In Reverie. You should probably buy this cd, since it is better than some of their old stuff, even though it gets a little slow towards the end. What can you do? As soon as we all realize that every punk band changes no matter how good they were before, the better off we’ll be. |

| I'd be lying if I said I wasn't biased towards the world's greatest band but even if I wasn't, this CD deserves nothing but praise.
It feels as if this CD is an all new beginning to a band that has five full lengths under their belt. Once again they've managed to create an entirely different CD from any of their others.
I have to thank Chris, David, Pete, and Manny for what will be the record of the year. Buy it now because if you don't you will only be shortchanging yourself. |
