This fourth album, Catalyst, finds New Found Glory composing their classic fare of aggressive, melodic gems with Avron at the helm once again. However, Catalyst lives up to its moniker, with a number of elements falling outside of the New Found Glory modus operandi.

“The word ‘catalyst’ means something that brings change,” says vocalist Jordan Pundik. “Its meaning is something that’s new and different.”

I bought this for my brother for christmas, becuase he loved "Sticks and Stones." While I wasn't diggin' Sticks and Stones, I found myself putting this one in the walkman for weeks on end. I might be wrong, but I think that they're experimenting with their sound. While they haven't completely changed, they certainly have taken some chances with this album, it's darker, it's a little more metal(and I mean just a tiny bit metal, don't expect black sabbath or something to that degree...). They tried new things with their guitars, with some synthesizers and even tried singing a little differently here and there, sometimes they even sound like motion city soundtrack. The songs are melodic and metaphoric, and they'll probably mean different things to different people, which shows versatility of interpretation, always a plus. Overall, New Found Glory probably earned quite a few new fans with this one, and if you're a die-hard fan you'll love it. Some people will be bummed out by the changes, though.

I have been a NFG fan for awhile and I think they are very good, this cd follows up on sticks and stones very nicely. I wasnt disappointed but its not in the front of my cd collection.

9/7/2004 by David from Silver Spring, MD Rating:
Listen to it and expected it to be as good as some of their other releases. Of course, it wasnt. Ever since they decided to sell out, they convinced themselves they're screamo and tried to be more hardcore. No good. Plus Jordans voice has gotten more and more annoying over the years. After about 2 weeks of owning it i gave it to my friend....FOR FREE...get better music than this crap...Fall Out Boy, TBS, The Cure, My Chemical Romance,Goldfinger...not this shit...

6/20/2004 by David from Co. Limerick, Ireland Rating:
I bought this cd with high expectations, I am a huge NFG fan and my expectations were met. Songs like "All downhill from here", "Truth of the youth", are great. Theres only two songs on this whole album to watch out for (this doesn't mean they suck, their just not as good as the rest) are "I don't wanna know" nd "I'd kill to fall asleep"

If you like NFG then buy this album!

6/17/2004 by Brendan from Calgary, AB Canada Rating:
This is quite impressive actually. Sticks and Stones was a decent album in my opinion, but this one is just purely awesome. Sure, I consider NFG to be a guilty pleasure, but lately, this album has been getting more and more rotation on my player. If you've liked anything at all about NFG in the past, there is plenty on this album to grab that same attention that they used to bring you in before. Catchy and is sometimes heavy as well. Worth checking out for sure.

5/28/2004 by Nick from Moody Afb, GA Rating:
hey this cd is decent...nfg is evolving i wouldn't be surprised if the band came out with there next cd being full blown screamo...this cd stayed in the changer for a while...the first 3 tracks are def the best on the cd...any fan of nfg must buy this cd...i love it...i love the band...buy this cd
