For the past six years, Orange County, California quartet Thrice have been blazing new trails for heavy music. They blended caustic screams with heart-aching melodies years before the Warped Tour deemed it fashionable. They helped open the doors for raging guitar solos to be re-embraced by the rock world, and they encouraged their peers and fans to give back to the community by contributing to worthy charities. Now, with the release of their fourth studio album Vheissu, Thrice have taken their boldest and most artistically creative steps to date.
While their earlier material was driven by crunchy riffs, intricate guitar playing and songs that bounded between yearning melodies and scathing dissonance, Vheissu is alternately rooted in mystical and atmospheric textures and arrangements that refuse to draw distinctions between loud and soft. Vheissu is the kind of album that is unexpected, unprecedented and undeniable.

| there are a few good songs on this, but for the most part it is very.. boring. if you liked Thrice's music for having killer riffs (eg. Deadbolt) then you probably shouldn't get this.. there are none.

| brutal. this is what happens to bands that foget what good music is and write simple radio music. all their previous albums kill me still. this album is very lacking emotion. very nu-metel esq......meh. couple songs had alright parts. |

| My favorite album of 2005. Too bad they didn't sold too much. People weren't expecting this kind of album but I hate the fact that they can't admit it's good. (See Luke under this review)
There are so many good songs on this it's very hard to guess which single they're going to choose next.
Standout tracks : Image Of The Invisible, Atlantic, Music Box, Red Sky. |

| I agree that this CD is a much different direction for Thrice. Although it's a bit slower and such, I like it for what it's worth. Their amazing live and they played most of the songs on the album. If your just getting into Thrice go with Identity Crisis or The Illusion of Saftey. If your more into "mainstream" go with Artist in the Ambulance or Vheissu. Either way you can't really go wrong with this band. They've yet to really disapoint me.
Stand out tracks for me were; The Earth Will Shake, Music Box, and Hold Fast Hope. Image is good but not my favorite. |

| thrice thrice thrice.... sigh...not the regular thrice that i am used to. well done lyrics more poetic but,no more of the sweet ass cherry breakdowns and fast hitting guitar riffs of the good ol'days. not a down hill album but perhaps a different path.is it the different producer, or the want for a more broader mainstream audience not for sure. the one thing you can expect form this gloriously unpredictible band is, they always deliver a sold album. if you are new to thrice i recommend you try "illusions of safety" by far thier best. love the piano work though. had ta give'em 4 damn!!! i hate four. |

| Well……..what to say about the new Thrice CD. I can start off by saying it was a HUGE disappointment. The only good song on the album is the 1st one. This is the only song that reminds me of their previous material. The whole album comes across as emo-crap with a hint of lame rock, nothing at all like their old albums. In short, old albums = awesome and this new album = major suck. |

| Well, this is definatly a band that's in my top 5 list. And they really rank up their with their music, which is a genre of their own. But, about this album. I have a lot of mixed emotions about it, somethings they tried were clever but it's like they tried way too tried on this record to sound "different" forgetting to add that natural Thrice flow you've come to love with the first 3 albums, which all three were different on their own too, they didn't feel out of place like this one. Great band, no doubt about that, but then again hats off to them by taking this risk, I hope they don't stay on this road though. I kinda think this album has a very heavy Radiohead thing going for it on some songs, maybe it's just me. And kinda trippy too... Oh well... 3 Stars just because it doesn't come close to "The Illusion of Safety" and " The Artist in The Ambulance" which are just perfect albums. |

| thrice is one fo the greatest bands of our time. everything they do is original. with vheissu thrice went down a different road than their previous efforts. the album is much slower, but don't get me wrong they still bring the rock. they tried putting alot of different sounds and ideas into their songs. some of these ideas are great and some just don't do it for me. don't buy this cd if you've never listened to thrice, but if you already enjoy their music this is definitely a must have.
